Not seen you here for yonks but if the end result of your absence is Duxford, stay away all you like  TBH mate, I'm (hopefully) only temporarily on the XP3200.. dragged out of retirement while the PSU on my dualcore system gets declared dead by Corsair followed, I hope, by a replacement winging it's way from Holland. I used to think the XP3200 was quite fast but after 2 years on the E8400 (itself far from cutting edge in this day and age) I see it's not! The 'Airshow' pack may give it a kick in the teeth.. not tried it yet.. but it runs at an acceptable level on non airshow days ;) I was more confused as to why the VC10 required 'full right' more than anything but a slip through the net is an acceptable explanation given the complexity of the scenery with all the bits and bobs turned on :)

Bottom line.. it's a smashing bit of scenery Steve.. not only that but being 'native' for both sims is the icing on the cake. Hat's off to you and John ;)

Hi DaveB

Well Yeah, not far off 2 years to create it on and off, we started the project in Feb 2010 and it was initially going to be a payware product to determine if it was viable for us, but due to delays from various external sources, licencing etc (a lot of time was spent just waiting, months in fact) we decided it wasnt for us so in the end we decided to keep it freeware as usual to save the hassle.

But I have been on here a few time, maybe not logged in but I have visited a few times.

Glad you like the scenery, possibly the most complex we've done yet in regard to the 2 airfield versions, 2 air show addons and 2 version of AI and in appropriate code for FS9 and FSX, then 4 installers, manuals etc, been quite brain melting sometimes but we got there in the end :agree:

I wonder has anyone read the Historic Duxford document, give a little bit of info about duxford. It can be found in the start menu under ACG

A XP3200 thats a 2.2ghz CPU isnt it? whats the FPS like. My PC is a Intel P4 3.2ghz CPU (Single Core) 2gb DDR2 memory and a 512mb Nvidia Graphic card, i get between 22 - 25 FPS in FS9 with AI turned on and Airshow switch on. This machine is what we used to base performance on, anything quicker than this will have no problem at all running Duxford

Regards

Stevo ;)

Hiya Steve :)

Yup.. the XP3200 is 2.2gb in real money. This system runs WinXP SP2 with 3gb of system ram through an nvidia 6800GT 256mb and I'm seeing around low 20's to 30fps depending on which direction I'm looking.. AI turned on and set at 30%. VFR Photo installed so not much by way of autogen which of course, helps it along. I had a traffic file setup from Old Warden to Duxford which I'll disable as I seem to have lost the Sabre and AKIF.. perhaps more *-) Will take a look a bit later :)

Hi

You should have 20 AI aircraft at 30% traffic slider

3 - DC-3's
2 - Rapides
1 - Hurricane
1- Catalina
1 - P-47
1 - Sabre
2 - P-51's
2 - Tiger Moths
2 - Harvards
1 - B-17
4 - Spitfires

;)

Steve..

I'd unticked 'airline' traffic on the traffic page. Ticking the box has returned the aircraft ;)

Jimm..

My FR's are for FS2004 on an old XP3200. You'll get much better on your new system ;)

Will try it out and see how it goes. Read on here that the creator of the scenery is using P4 computer so my system should be OK.

Just installed the FSX version and it is IMHO the best UK scenery ever made for the sim...............and it's FREE Great work from John and Steve, I now have a new home after flying from RAF Tangmere for almost two years, quite a difference in quality of the scenery there 8) .
