Ben Watson wrote:Hi Mike, I can easily make the pilotable ones work as AI. I have the stuff from FS shipyards, or so I thought, but didn't see the Thoresen one so I'll have another look. Cheers! :)

Have you seen any SeaLink ones?
Hi Ben, The Thoresen paint is the alternative to the P&O. I've quoted some of the readme which might help you find it:
The Ro-Ro Ferry MV Pride of Portchester and MV Viking Victor.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This ship is a fictional stern load/discharge ro-ro ferry with texture sets for P&O and Townsend Thoresen. It is NATIVE FSX and WILL NOT WORK in FS2004. (Use my ferry ship for FS2004).The model has animated female Captain and female 2nd Engineer on the bridge. For those of you more inclined to the Engineering side I have also built a machinery control room. Gauges used are default FSX gauges. You will definately need 'nn-gauges' Smoke control gauge by Nick Needham for the effects to show and optionally 'rcb-gauges' smoke control gauge by Rob Barendregt. It would be better to have both. Copyright prevents me from uploading them with this package.
[DELETED MUCH FROM HERE]
Several outside views are included, cycle them in spot view by pressing 'S' until you are on the Port Bridgewing, then cycle the outside views by pressing 'A'. Look around by holding 'Spacebar' and moving your mouse around.
'Shift + E' opens the bridge doors,
'Shift + E2' opens the stern door,
'Shift + E3' opens the side passenger shell doors,
'Shift + E4' drops the port anchor
Usual keys for lights.

You are permitted to repaint and upload the modified textures ONLY but please maintain the quality of the originals and give credit to me in any uploads.
Hope you enjoy sailing this ship as much as I enjoyed building it.
Regards, Andrew Randall

I see that Andrew is happy for anyone to repaint, but as the paint files are unopenable on my W7, I don't know how to do that yet. I'll ask him, then see what "little old me" can do about SeaLink.
Does one need special AI software for inserting aircraft and vessels? I've never tried it.

Hi Daniel, :hello:

"I like that Sark Venture tug. Where can I get this?

Has anyone a Hovercraft for AI traffic in the channel?

Regards

Daniel"

Try the link I posted to Ben. There are hovercraft listed there.
Yes I think that tug has won a few hearts! (including mine).
And YOUR collection? Payware, location?

It's all freeware. The Greek repaints of the Randall Shipyards model are available at simviation.com. Search with ferry ship. The Corsica/Sardinia Ferries I can't remember. They were FS2004 models I found somewhere and converted it to AI Boats. I put them into service with the standard trafficboat file, decompiling it and replacing the US ferries on the respective routes. The models are on my Disk and I can send or upload if anyone is interested to use it.

I already did a few traffic files out of Southampton and Portsmouth. I have to put the files together to share. Since there aren't enough authentic ferry models, I have to use just similar ones. I also did some carrier group traffic files. Two around the Falklands, one with Flyingstations Ark Royal and the other with UKMil Ark Royal. The latter is only available to UKMil Members, so therefore I published the tracks only on UKMil. It's there in the forum.

I once saw here a three sisters project. Is this finished yet?

Other carrier tracks not published yet are a french group out of Toulon to the gulf of Sirte Lybia and a US group from Crete to the gulf of Sirte. The groups patrol there for a certain time then go back to the origin. Out of Portsmouth I have a British Group with the UKMil Ark Royal sailing to Gibraltar and then going down to Malta, going around the island and returning to Portsmouth, all in a week.

The Sark Venure isn't a tug, it is a passenger ferry carrying 122 passengers between Sark and Guernsey.

I think it used to be on the Earth Simulations site, but if anyone would like it, send me a PM with your email address. Note. It's 3MB.

Hiya George :)

Are they still anything to do with ES? I've not seen them available there and to the best of my knowledge, they're not part of ES GUE/ALD.. they're not in my 'Boats' folder anyway *-)

Hi Dave,

When ES produced Alderney, Rick made a few ferries. Perhaps they were made available only to the beta testers.

I'll stick them up on my website shortly.

I've put the Sark Venture and Marin Marie together with a traffic file for Sark Venture between Guernsey and Sark on my website.

Note the traffic file was made to fit the ES Guernsey/Sark tectures, it may not work with the defaults.

Since I have limited web space I would be grateful if you could say when you have downloaded it.

Thanks.

OK Ben,
I've had my first whack at "DXTBMP", and have some photos of real Sealink ships so I can approximate the correct font and colour. Meanwhile, this is a quick shot to see if the repaint worked at all:

As you see, I haven't even tried the funnel yet.
