Hi Eric..

Hang in there mate.. I'll pull my Viking apart and have a look :) Not sure why it won't start from cold but this is something that seems to happen for no apparent reason. When we've been beta testing, some of the testers haven't been able to start something and others have. We never really find out why either *-)

I have a slightly updated panel bmp for the Viking if you want it. The original has a rather 'blue' tint to it that I didn't like so I've made mine a bit more black. I changed the bmp for the quadrant too so you can have both if you want them. The quad is part of the gauge so I'll have to send both :)

Hi Dave.Just checked and as you say the panel appears to have a blue tinge.I'd be grateful to receive your panel etc and give it a try but don't put yourself out. :) Many thanks EricT

Hello Mate..

Okey doh.. I've been flying this for so long, I'm used to it. Therefore, what I might take for granted, anyone else may not  The aircraft will start fine from cold. However, there was never enough 'hold/repeat' put on the start switches so hitting them once will not fire the engines up. Keep tapping the starter switch and it'll fire up. Sad this was never sorted as it only takes around 1-2secs longer and the engines fire.
Re the fuel tanks.. I dunno what the problem is there mate. I hit the icon and the fuel panel comes up. There's a possibility that the icon changed (it may use a default simicon which in turn, may have changed from FS8 to FS9). Do all the other icons work ok?

Hi Eric..

I've uploaded the darker panel and new cab HERE

Just drop both files into your Viking panel folder and either take the originals out first or let these overwrite. Might be an idea to move both oldies out first.. I'm not struck on overwriting. If you have any more problems, don't hesitate to shout. I found what might be a good replacement for the faulty RMI the other day. If I can remember where I found it, I'll give it a try. Now.. what bloody aircraft was I in *-) AH.. the JBK Argo. I'll let you know how I get on :)

Success! As you say.the starter needs a bit of wellie.Had a brief cct of Aberdeen ok but I noticed the indicated airspeed as shown under the tool tip didn't correspond with the indication on the ASI.Thanks for the link,I'll change the panel later and let you know how I get on.Sorry I can't promise any better jokes etc!
One coming up shortly :) EricT

I rarely fly the Varsity. Is the ASI ok on that? I know it's a load of old spuds on the Viking. I think it reads out in kph on my pc. I tried changing it and got a whole lot of trouble

I can't get the RMI to work.. not even the one from the DC4 (which in turn is from the DC3). It seems to need a control switch.. eg, Nav1-ADF1, Nav2-ADF2 as is present on the DC3 radio stack. The Nav radio's do work but the RMI is out of cct. I'll try and get my head around it ;)

Can't remember an ASI problem with the Varsity. The Viking's RMI card doesn't track heading changes and isn't manually adjustable.Haven't changed panels yet.
Having said all that it is an early model and it's still good to have these old beauties available. :agree: EricT

Hi Eric..

I've just dropped the ASI off the Varsity into the Viking.. it's a cleaner gauge to look at ;) Well.. the RMI card on the Viking can be turned but nowt happens. The answer is out there.. not sure if I'll find it though

Just tried the panel changes Dave but the ASI problem is still there in addition to the clock face being slightly misaligned to its 'cutout' on the panel.I'll have another play tomorrow. :) EricT
