Your comments tipped the scales, I thought about what I wanted to see on my drive - and what I would want to see my wife and my 1-year-old son in.
Then I just rang the owner and bought the Volvo! Here it is and it's mine...



Now for sure I know the car is far from being new, even if it definitely looks like new (no rust at all, the rear seats never been used, the sun shield still in its plastic cover). However I was looking for something roomy - and within this price range most of the younger bigger cars are wasted and wounded. And as you probably already know - both memsahib and myself are in favour of the good old things in life. So this Volvo is old - I hope it proves good as I read everywhere. I want it to serve us for two, maybe three years until I can afford buying something new...

It's just fantastic to read people advising you from Ontario via Kent down to Monza!

Given the choice you gave us I'd probably have gone for the Volvo as well. Especially as you say it's been very well cared for.

Your Escort looks lovely. I had two, one an 1100 I bought from my mother and several years later when I was short of money I bought an old 1300GT which wasn't well looked after but served me well. They go, stop, steer and handle well unlike some more modern cars I've owned.
I also think they still look good. Especially the Mexico and RS models.

yes - this picture was taken in April when the 1st owner had passed away.
The family then wanted to keep the car for one of their children but they but they refused to use it - "too cobby, too ugly for them". That's why it was sold.
Fine with me although I'll never understand - if I had inherited a car like this at the time -I think I'd have been proud and happy... well...

What you say reminds me of my niece a few years back, about sixteen at the time.

She was very upset because her TV was busted, she couldn't be without it and there was something she had to watch.

I offered her my spare but it was declined as it was not the "sort of TV" she would watch ...Sad really.

Not at all - we've just had a few weeks of nearly 40 deg Celsius - that's why I was a bit unsure about the lacking air con...
