My pet hate (and that of Mrs W who still doesn't drive) is cyclists who insist on cycling on the road when the local council have spent a small fortune carving half of the pavement up as a cycle path. George will know what I mean here. The Coast Road from South Shields to Whitburn is quite narrow in parts, but the extra wide footpath has 50% marked up as a dedicated cycle path... the buggers still cycle on the road

Run em all over I say

You have to realise Ben that the Highway Code doesn't apply to cyclists so why would they use a cycle lane 8)

I always use the cycle lanes...I feel safer on them and often I can get there quicker instead of queuing behind cars at light etc...I did say queuing. Cyclist in general seem to think they have a right to go up the inside and jump red lights etc.

On the road they should obey the roads and if I'm in a narrow road and traffic starts to build up behind I just pull over and wave them through. I lose seconds, so what!!.

Seriously, it only takes common sense and manners, but, for some reason there is a war going on between the two groups. :dunno:

Cyclist do help reduce Global Warming

If they cycle a route then repeat the route as many do on a daily basis, then that is recycling *-) which is said to be good at reducing pollution and therefore Global Warming...just as long as they don't fart too often and negate their carbon saving. 8)

If poodling along is the order of the day then cyclopaths are very useful but if, say, training then they are no use at all - can't maintain a consistent speed and most other cyclists using it are usually on the slow side! We're alright down here - we don't have cyclopaths (at least not the marked-up variety) so us cyclists are forced to share the road, bloody criminal if you ask me!

Chris
