I laugh though I shouldn't having recently spent 5hrs downloading Earthsims IoM scenery followed by a further 30-odd mins to install it only to find it's bu99ered AND that it's also bu99ered Alderney and Guernsey. The Isles of Scilly appear to be ok though I can't vouch for Shawbury Fields 8) WTF is it with Earthsims scenery :dunno:

P3D takes me back to the cutting edge days of 3D and my very expensive EDimensional 3D glasses for FlightSim. When I got the darned things, they didn't work. EDimensional were very quick at responding to my emails and almost daily, there was another 'Beta' driver from Nvidia for me to download and try. The simple fact was that the technology.. however heralded as the new 'coming of the Lord' was far from sorted and anyone who bought these things was, in reality, part of a very expensive beta team. I sent them back after about 5 weeks.. I'd had enough. Not only that.. I looked even more of a prat than normal sitting at the pc wearing Roy Orbison glasses (they were the more expensive wireless ones too) Ironically, HM Customs and Excise sent me a bill for import duty some 2 weeks after I'd sent the bloody things back. One doesn't argue with HM Revenue! :|

For an on-screen comparison (OK, it's P3D 1.4, but anyway....):

EDIT:
On the subject of development, the contract which this fair country signed for the supply of F35s, commits us to help pay for development; way to go for LM, large scale crowd funding or is it "cloud" funding?
Perhaps even pie in the sky funding? :dunno:

So far I've found P3Dv2.3 to be very stable. I've only had it CTD twice, and both those times I was chopping and changing airports and aircraft just to see how things looked.
Alex, are you using the very latest FSUIPC? 4.936a is the latest version at time of writing. http://forum.simflight.com/topic/66139-updated-modules/

Yes latest FSUIPC. It's Academic (ha! talk about irony) now as I've deleted it from the HD I bought specially for it. Now that HD is storage.

Thanks for all the useful information everybody. Unfortunately I don't think my computer (or my wallet) will cope with P3D so I'll probably pick up a copy of FSX gold sometime soon.

I think that's a wise choice Richard. There's still a lot of mileage left in FSX and I'm sure dev's will continue to develop for it at least until P3D becomes more a finished product. Heck.. there are Dev's on here who still make aircraft for FS9 so I'm sure you'll get your monies worth out of 'X' ;)

Good luck with it

Indeed - and not forgetting there is a wealth of quality freeware aircraft for FSX. The best of it stemming from right here, of course! ;)
