Right, thanks. I've put my G940 away and connected up my Warthog, too, so have to see how I get on with it.

Nah, didn't make any difference!
Oh well. I spent nearly 4 hours on this last night and yet didn't even dock. The controls were so messed up (assigning a control to the Warthog throttle, only to find the same button number on the stick did it instead) that I tried different presets, too, but still didn't have any luck until my very last try.
I actually managed to get the comms GUI up - previously had not wanted to know - and got into the station, but after zooming past pad number 16 (yes, first assigned docking and they give me the one just inside the door!

) I managed to use the manoeuvring thrust to place myself over the pad, but for some strange reason was just unable to dock.
Never mind - all part of the learning fun!

Problem is, after the update it is said to be not playable now, and another update is due out later, so I'll wait for that before trying again.
By the way, Dave, with regard to saves being reset - you probably already know, but I came across this, in a different gaming forum, by Dave Kelly:
changes in some of the data mean that there will be a partial reset for Beta 2. At the moment ship loadout and save location are the items needing to be reset.
However there's an opinion here that we'd like to do a full reset as a lot of earning mechanisms have been changed or added and it would be useful to us to track progression from the start point.
As I have mentioned previously that we're not planning a full wipe for beta 2 I thought I would post here to gauge reaction.
We're still planning a full reset for Gamma.

Strange. I don't know if it makes a difference, but I don't use the Thrustmaster Target software so ED see the throttle and stick as separate items.
Read last night they were going to do a full reset for beta 2. Haven't tried it yet as I was busy backing up then updating P3d to V2.4.
I'll probably wait for beta 2.01, due later today, before upgrading. Back to the old Sidewinder again
I believe they've added a docking tutorial in b2. Never had much problem with it myself. The small scanner above and to the right on the main scanner shows your position relative to the pad, so I use that to orient myself if I can't see the actual pad, then fly directly towards the dock number until it fades out, then lower the ship straight down. Fine tune the positioning when the guidance display comes up. Don't forget to lower your gear!

Hi Dave
I've updated to 2.01 and the controls are all assigned and working well, so far.
The save option is blanked out (appears red) so I'm guessing it has been reset - not that I had anything saved myself!
However, big issues! They've basically broken my game with this update. I'm getting several console errors and also a black or frozen screen on exiting a flight. Very disappointing. They are aware of the issues, though.
I did manage to complete the docking tutorial. I see what the problem was last night, though I don't know why it happened - I can only guess that I was too far forward of the field, as I didn't get the positioning data come up in the HUD.
I know better now
Really hope they fix it soon

Fix due out today, Dave - v2.0.3
Let's hope it fixes all the CTD/freeze issues for everyone.
Well... for us, anyway!

Yes, saw that earlier. My install is at 2.02 now, but haven't had chance to try any of the 2.xx releases yet (if it even works!)
With 2.03 being imminent, I'll wait for that.
Also been looking into that group you mentioned earlier. Think I've have a try with that as well.

I joined the group last night, although I still need to register on the groups own forum. Just need to get Elite to actually run for more than 2 minutes now
I'm Cmdr Bauhaus in ED.

Roger Diddley - sure I've seen a post of yours in the forum.
Have to say that, so far, I've had no issues at all with the new update.
PS - ah yes - about having it on the Speccy. I was/am a Speecy fan but I could never find it. Maybe always sold out? Someone told me it wasn't released on Speccy, so I stopped looking. Of course, we didn't have the internet back then.

I played Elite a lot on my 48K Spectrum+ while I was at college.

it certainly did exist for the Speccy.
Possibly why I had to resit my second year neuroanatomy exam.
