And the article states that America might be named after a Richard Amerike.

But please, don't call him Dick.

I wish we could suddenly lose it! I had never heard of it till it happened here and then look at the chaos that it caused. I have made a firm resolution to never ever spend anything on Black Fridays. Sadly I can't see anyone following suit

Indeed, you and I most certainly are..

.. one true test of that is we've discussed politics and religion in depth, without it becoming a divisive obstacle. So yes , a cuppa and conversion is always on the table.
I'm so very happy you survived the illness that nearly took you, and that you have rebound beyond anything you (or i) could have imagined.

People reduced to animals, stampedeing over fallen and pushing and trying to grab off others.
Disgusting
I can't think of any bargain worth a fraction of that

I don't like it.. I don't like it at all but working in the retail industry as I do, I can't avoid it.
Larry's comment on page 1 (I think it was page 1) sums it up exactly though who decided the phenomena should reach these shores, I've no idea. My better half (who works for a shoddy competitor) mentioned that at her particular store.. they expected to wipe out all the annual shortfalls (financial) in a single day. I don't know whether they did or not and she doesn't care but even at my store (a company with a much better pedigree!!) we took a huge amount of dosh in the first 30mins. The wife and I popped in an hour after opening at 8am and what we went in for (a new Dyson) had already long gone

Most unimpressed!
