It is a Docu-drama that starts around about the point of Gagarin's flight and follows the US space program to the moon, through to Apollo 17. From what I have seen, it is very accurate, far more so than that great film The Right Stuff. I am reading the biography of Niel Armstrong at the moment, and many of the stories that are in there are in the programme.
It is available on DVD, which is how I got it... 5 disks (12 x 1hr episodes (4 disks) + 1 disk of extras).... £44 and worth every penny so far...

Thanks for that Tonks
That is a period that fascinates me and covers the time when I was growing up. I was born in 1957 so space was a theme during my childhood.
Nowdays it's more like spaced out but I do like this kinda thing.

And what's wrong with Radio 4? It's when you start listening to Radio 2 you know you're on the downward slide - it's only a short step to Saga Radio from there!!
AndyG
(Who DOES listen to Radio 4, but definitely NOT Radio 2).

Hmmmmmmmm
I don't have a telly
I never listen to radio and never have willingly
I don't listen to music only play my own
I have never bough a CD/DVD with music or a film on for myself
The last record I bought was in about 1975 (for myself) Deep Purple
So you can cross me off your Radio 4 list..

That's right Ian
the album was machine head and contained smoke on the water.
It was reduced in a sale.
I was tight even then
