I've got that Super Connie and it is indeed very nice, but it's not hugely detailed as it's a Mike Stone model.
Actually BT most of the percieved detail is in the texturing on a model like this, so there are probably nice paints out there that will make it look a whole lot better.

It's all down to wether or not the base paintkit was used I suppose.

Just a thought

Well I 'm glad the subject was brought accually
It's had been awhile since I'd flown her
I had to kick some doves out of the Engines
so to speak
It has it's own Panel and as much as I like the VC I flew the Super for a few hours yesterday
................forgot what I was missing
Did the super connie have any british colors on her?
I'll take a look on google
anyone have any input on that?
(british Paints)
By the Way
A retired connie pilot I know (father of a friend of mine)
told me the pilots would often get dirty flying them
doing the required visual inspections and soemthing about the climb on ladders ,
................I don't remember the conversation entirly

Hi Joe

There was a BOAC Super L-1049D

I don't think it's been done for FS

I will see if I can find a pic of it

Garry,

G-INFO only show L-049, L-149 and L-749 Connies (33 in total).

And a book on the Constellation says BOAC only had L-049 and L-749.

Don't remember seeing any others.

It was for charters to the Caribbean I think. And being a freighter had hardly any windows :huf: ....It was not popular

Certainly it is not well known and I wonder how Airfix has treated the release of the Super Connie kit as that has BOAC decals :worried:

It also had no radar (Unlike the kit)

Trying to find a pic now

Often forgotten also is that BOAC also operated a Canadair CL-44 for freight only

This is all I can find

http://cgi.ebay.fr/CP-LOCKHEED-L-1049D- ... dZViewItem

From what I remember it was due to the general fleet shortages caused by the Comet withdrawl.

It was all they could get at the time

From this link:
http://www.ajjcollection.co.uk/L1.HTM

looks like it as N6503C (L-1049D, c/no 4165)

which "Cr on take off and struck TCA Viscount CF-TGL. New York, NY USA. 10.11.58" while owned by Seaboard and Western Airlines

which allowed me to find:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 486&fkxs=1

another eBay picture (still for sale  )

But perhaps not just one leased:

see N6501C to N6504C at end

Hi Ian

The picture here is the only one I have ever seen

As to the three mentioned aircraft one was only leased for a month

I don't know if both of the other two wore BOAC colours

I have only ever seen it reported as one in the BOAC colours.
