When I was up in Scotland in January, the taxi driver who took me from Edinburgh airport to the middle of nowhere said that he also did the run to Glasgow - I gather that Prestwick stays open when Glasgow airport is closed by weather. So they must have got that bit correct.

Prestwick was known and probably still is as the fog free airport.
I guess that is still used for diversions and possible the only place open in the area at such times.
And of course if Glasgow Airport is closed than it would be a road trip.

That makes sense of what the taxi driver said - he went to pick someone up from "Glasgow" after diversion. Pity no one told him they meant Prestwick.

Prestwick has always been, and is still refered to as "Glasgow Prestwick"... It should actually be called "40 miles south west of Glasow... Prestwick" But the M77 now means it only takes 30 minute by car. :dance:

Seeing as you're in Edinburgh:
My "middle of nowhere" was Kersewell, Carnwath. Is that an appropriate description or did the taxi driver take me the long way round?

Carnwath is definately the middle of nowhere... nice back road to Edinburgh though along the A70.... best driven on a warm dry summers night... quickly!
