Eddie, loving the bike. Am just in the process of finding a decent XC at the moment.
Regarding the weather, it is just pants. I work for Thomsonfly and a number of our bases are affected.

You've got some good views round your way Eddie. Far better than riding along next to the Trent...
A few of the lads at work have recently got themselves bikes, my new years resoloution (along with giving up fags and beer... As always...) is going to be really working on my fitness and getting a bike is something i'm planning on doing.
I haven't really got a clue what to look for though, i'm not going to initially be riding in places like your photos but may well do eventually. I will be starting on muddy and dirty bridleways with a bit of road thrown in.
What bikes would you suggest, i've got £1300 in the old savings account at the moment but don't really want to spend that much. 5-600 quid would be about ideal.

Hi Rob,
a decent entry level MTB starts at around £350-£400. Anything below that and it will self destruct if you take it off-road. Have a look at some of the leading manufacturers websites for further info.
I recommend;Specialized(cos I got one!), Cannondale, Trek, Fisher, Orange(British&beautiful), Scott and GT. These are just for starters.
Regarding giving up things you love, why not just cut down, otherwise life can get boring. Although giving up fags is a good idea
Drink in moderation but don't cut it out altogether. You gotta have some fun matey, especially in our job.
When the time comes to buy then PM me and I will scout around a few stores and locate a bargain for you.
