Ola mon ami

Yes indeed.. I have the ear of many folk there. The VC10 is going to be reassembled to a state similar to how it would have looked prior to having it's wings put on (and fin I presume cause there's no sign of that anywhere). It will be open to the general public as a sort of 'living' museum with various artifacts on show and will illustrate the manufacturing techniques used in it's construction. A very neat way of turning scrap into something useful even if I do say so myself

Outside of that.. no idea mate!!

Thanks for that Dave, sounds interesting.
Do you know if it does indeed have a complete cockpit?

At the time of it's demise it was said the tail and wings were cut off and scrapped.

This is before the rest was dismantled

Has the RAF got any bits left from their standards.....?

Have they all been completely cut up?

Has Tonks got a very big overcoat?

Just wonder if the missing bits could be found.

Hi DM..

No info on the completeness of what came down mate. I fear the worst but have been wrong before. A pound to a pinch of sh1t the VA badges off the control yokes will have gone (and if they have.. it was nowt to do with me) I'll see what I can find out for you

I don't know why Cosford had to specifcally become an 'RAF Museum', when we already have one at Hendon. :dunno:

Large Airliner exibits obviously take a LOT of looking after and at a cost, but I feel more emphasis of thought should have gone to them, in sacrifice, maybe, of some of the more common military stuff - IF that would have helped.

And now we have lost the BA livery worn by those Airframes, I hope the Brooklands VC10 will one day appear in it (as the current scheme is really non representitive) as their Concorde has.

Hi Chis,

An interesting point about A40-AB but I don't know how tied they are by the terms they took the aircraft on. It is certainly not representative of any UK livery/operator (even though bits of ASIX blue are starting to show through) though to paint it as such would then leave the inside unrepresentative  A bit of an odd one out me thinks :dunno:

Penny drops and I now wonder if you are talking about the ex-Cosford airframe  If at all possible, that little tinker would/should be painted in lovely yellow primer considering how it is to be displayed :k:

I think he means A40-AB Dave

Chris

G-ASIX can only go in one of two British United or British Caledonian.

It was not BOAC/BA and not of the same type that BOAC had.

Hi Dave

No, I was refering to the Sultan's ex personal Transport. And you're quite right about the internal fitting clashing with the BA livery - I don't think BA's first class ever stretched to that extent of luxury!!

Hi Chris.

See my post above, it was not a BA aircraft
