How very, very sad, one of the last of the true pioneers in aviation.

That’s a really pity and a very sad loss. Flying on a sunny bank holiday weekend seems like a nice way to finish though.

So soon after the loss of Alex Henshaw it seems we are rapidly losing this breed, and with little chance of seeing their like again. Off the top of my head the only (tenuous) modern day equivalents I can think of are Richard Noble and Andy Green?

Another loss to British aviation, so soon after Alex Henshaw. Rest in peace Neville.

Saw the news on the front of the Telegraph today (starved of t'internet during the week). Very sad indeed, but glad to see the press taking an interest in a true hero.

Not all that much interest shown by the media, did'nt even make the BBC news as far as I know.

Was mentioned by Sarah Kennedy some 4/5 days after the news here.

Seems a lot of people nowadays are not interested in what made this country great.

Unless you are a politician who dips his wick where they are not supposed to  or kick a ball around and demand a 5 figure sum for doing so  nobody is interested.

My heroes were Douglas Bader, Guy Gibson and Stanford Tuck.

Others from a later era were Donald Campbell, Mike Lithgow, Martin Withers and "Pablo" Mason.

How many younger people today know those names.

RIP

TBH I never noticed anything in the media when Sir Peter Masefield died or Sir George Edwards.

If it hadn't been for this forum I would almost certainly missed the recent events.
