The Caproni 313 was our subject, a quite elegant and well performing aircraft, I believe.

03-03-25 A friendly face this time. To score points, you'll need to specify the Mk and description of those aerials.

Last week's was a total embarrassment to me.
I started by relying on the caption in the book which I scanned from.
I then checked the defining features of the different Mks.
One important change was the introduction of dihedral to the tailplane from Mk VI onwards, and the tail certainly didn't look as steep as Dave G's MkVI from the same angle.
They were definitely not Merlin engines, so it wasn't a MkII.
MkIII and IV were cancelled, whilst the MKV had a turret behind the cockpit, so it wasn't one of them.
The Mk VI was said to be fitted with Mk VIII radar, not the MK IV in the photo. Turns out that some early VIs had the old radar.
Mks VII,VIII and IX, to be Australian, were not built.
The Mk X never had MK IV radar, it was much too late.
I have since located a post which lists serial nos. with the aircraft type. The RAF Command site was unhelpful in just calling it a Beaufighter (thanks for not much).
Here's a screenshot from the list: I can confirm that the photo depicts V8526, so it is a MKVI with MkIV radar.

10-03-25 results.
AllanL and Mick (woody901) were the only entrants this week,was this due to it being a USA product
Both correctly spotted the Boeing F4B-4 and gaining diamonds for their expertise.
The image came from a 1930s book, which my Daughter gave me. She picked it up in a market for $10; I looked up on line and found a couple of copies for about AU$200

Tried to post a clean image, but I'm getting an http error.
Firefox has gone horribly slow since the last update, and couldn't raise CBFS at first. Tried Bing, which got me here promptly, but then I was refused login as my details were not valid, so back to Firefox
