Not had that problem so far, Nev.

Up to now, I had a clean install and the only issue was one I mentioned near the start of this thread - taxi/landing light orbs are way oversized on all of my aircraft.

No blocky trees or any other issues to report, that aren't due to my suddenly inadequate spec.

I then installed FTX/OrbX England, Scotland and Wales (and Cardiff comes as a 'gizzit' with it) and the scenery was great - still no blocky trees and all looked really good. Not only the scenery, but I started at Bristol EGGD, and for the first time ever I had GA traffic there. Started in the Baron and was literally surrounded by GAs in the parkplatz. There were four airliners, too, though with FSX default schemes - and one took off immediately.

I flew to Cardiff - not only well represented, but also GA in the park, and the proper airlines on display (Thomson, FlyBe, BA), though to the rear I did spot 3 default airlines - but I had to search the pan to find them.

Took off again and flew over St Athan - also looking good, however, the taxiways were covered with grass. I had that issue on the South-Western end of Bristol, too - and when I went to Coningsby it was a major problem there, which was a shame as the airbase itself was very nice.

I managed to navigate my way around this area by the rivers and main roads, which are in their proper locations. Unfortunately the minor roads not so much. It's really frustrating - you see a large area that looks just like in the real world, but then when you follow, say, an A road you notice the scenery is totally wrong in places. Such a shame. Boston docks are as badly represented as in FSX.

I didn't see any AI flying except that Airbus that took off from EGGD - and that at 95% in the options.

So there ya go - long post, but hopefully some useful info.

Oh yes - night time with FTX was rubbish. Way too light, and building/street lamps were only visible at very close range. Car lights were impressive, though. Screenshots available if required ;)

Guys, If you check the Prepar3d forums you'll see they have a list of issues that they are working on for the 2.1 update, the tree issue is one of them. Its not specific to UK2000, its a P3D2 issue and they have accepted it as such. The night flying reflections on the water is a real issue for me though. I've no AI issues, I'm using all WOAI stuff with some customised exceptions such as BA schedules flying Tridents / 1-11's / VC10's etc and some argosy's doing Freight runs and Dan Air 1-11 / comets and A300's.

Ben,

Do you have the Horizon Orkney and Shetlands? If so, could you check the water blending. On my system I get a good blend only when the water effects are off.

Hi George, I don't have it sorry. If I'm honest the water, night and day, is poor when compared to FSX. When you add REX into the equation FSX water is substantially better. I'm loathed to start playing with the settings too much as there is already a lot of fixes in the pipeline for 2.1 and the way I see it, tinkering with it too much at this stage may result in even more work being required to undo any tweaks that I've put in.

I think I will re format my SSD then do a complete re-install and see what works. As I have tried to install Rev X and Traffic 360 so many times there is probably some corruption in there.

Will report back soon. Dave, you are not of the hook yet over those boat pictures. :hide:

Well whatever - I'm happy now. UK2K installed and get blocky trees, FTX installed and all fine - so there must be some kind of link (not saying that it's UK2K at fault - just that whatever it is in P3D that makes it use those textures, doesn't happen to me with FTX installed).

So I can go back to enjoying myself with the aircraft I like and not worry about what might go wrong.

The new graphics card can't get here fast enough, though - I need that extra VRAM as it takes a long time for the textures to settle down and not keep showing black when I change views.

I'm also not impressed that it reloads the scenery after looking at options - even if I don't change anything - and also after looking at airport info on the map (why?).
Will have to use my VFR Guide and Pooley's instead.

I have UK2000 installed, and sometimes the sim loads with the black trees. Might try and install ORBX UK into the sim again as last time i pointed it to the FSX install folder and it went screwy. Had my vorticies issue again last night so ive put that on the LM forums...

Chris, on my install FTX refused to acknowledge that P3D was installed - it's surely set up to install to P3D v1 and not V2.

I set it to install to FSX (which I don't have installed) using the Esim migration tool.

I have the migration tool, just need to see if I need to uninstall it before reinstalling for P3D...

Cleaned the SSD drive then re-installed P3DV2 followed by Migration Tool. Then installed Real Scenery and Uk 2000 Airports V2. Now have clickable spots on my VC's but when using the opening screen as opposed to launching directly into a flight I get the black screen! Ditched that option then.

Certainly got better results with the Migration Tool installed.
