I found I needed to increase the value to 0.09 to keep the engines running with my X52 HOTAS throttle.

Thanks Larry, I hope those who have had the problem reads this.

By the way, I have the X52 myself, and no problems.

There was someone on another forum had this problem and he found by experimentation that 0.09 was the correct figure as well :)

That confirms it nicely :)

I can understand there being small differences in the cut off point as every throttle is going to be slightly different. No two potentiometers are going to be exactly alike (unless you pay BIG money for them to be calibrated before sale) so when your throttle is at zero it may well be zero while mine is reading 0.04 or something similar. If simmers have set up a 'null zone' in the FS settings screen this will also affect where the zero point is on their throttle. This is why I made the point of saying 'Your Mileage May Vary' on the other forum as every throttle/joystick/FS config is going to behave slightly differently and a figure that works fine for one system may not be quite right for another. Usually there is enough 'headroom' in the values to make no difference but it looks like in the case of a closed throttle and jet engines there is a very fine line between keeping the engines running and having them 'die' on you.

I put FS9 back on this system the other day and have now set up the smoke effects for the Comet 1/2 in FS9 (earlier in this thread is a post noting my FSX settings wouldn't work in FS9 and the reasons why). Here are the FS9 settings:

Code: Select all

[SMOKESYSTEM]
smoke.0=   -25.70, -1.50,  11.0, fx_XYZ
smoke.1=   -25.70, -1.50,  8.0,  fx_XYZ
smoke.2=   -25.70, -1.50, -8.0,  fx_XYZ
smoke.3=   -25.70, -1.50, -11.0, fx_XYZ
NOTE: You will have to search through your 'Effects' folder and substitute 'fx_XYZ' with a suitable smoke effect you have on your system.

Not sure what's causing the change in metal texture between the two fuselage textures. In terms of the grey scale on the alpha texture they're identical?
