Careful Jim, you are not far off being one of those who run things yourself :o   Progress (when seen from inside) always seems a retrograde thing, all these trade name changes must have cost a small fortune in printing costs alone though! However they seem to have been around from day one, I was an A Fitt E for 9 months before becoming an A Tech E whilst I slept, didn't feel a thing.....until they told us our 'time served' promotions had been dropped at the same time :-(

Was that one of the changes that came in last month, along with Aerospace Battle Managers and a change of Admin (Sec)'s title?

Quite what a Logistics (Driver) is going to drive which isn't some form of MT I don't know!

Quite what a Logistics (Driver) is going to drive I don't know!

A lot of haulage companies now use that word Logistics, don't ask me why, when I was in MT my title was MT Driver, when I was in haulage it was either British Road Services or Tankfreight. Now BRS no longer exists under that name but goes under the flag of Excel wait for it............LOGISTICS.......I think!!

These words are just purely put in at the end of the to make it sound good to prospective customers no doubt.

Take another example in advertisments, certain words I'm sure are put in to baffle applicants and if they are able to understand what the words actually mean or what the employer is looking for....they get the job!!

Global mindset (what the hell are they looking for)?, ability to think across functional boundaries (What's that)?

Couple of others:

'Meeting the challenges: Align our centres' missions with the new strategy, ensuring long-term sustainability, and balancing the advantages gained through activities supporting stakeholders against the possibility of mission drift.' So what does all that supposed to mean?

Ooops,. sorry, this thread is all about Adam and wishing him well in his new career with the RAF....Sorry....Just sort of got carried away!! :$

Regards
Nigel.

Sorry Steve, I should have mentioned, but these were previously known as Fighter Controllers! Looking at the latest RAF bribery, sorry, recruitment incentive (ie, introduce a "friend", a bit like sky tv), they still need them as much as when I first went to the careers office in the mid 90s!

Its the same as us lot being rebranded into Weapons System Operator - Rotary Crewman. Just 'Glorified Porter' would do!

Negative. Everyone who is rearcrew now wears the WSOp brevet. (Only those who earned the LM brevet or any other type can still wear them. Qualified WSOps now have to wear the brevet below. Unless you're a loadie on the course behind me at Cranwell who is on 10's and still wears an LM brevet to 'stop confusion between loadies and navs'. I believe the officer rank tabs will be the thing that makes the most difference... )
