My first flight was as a child, travelling on a BOAC Stratocruiser, to America.
Can even remember the LHR Departures Nissen Hut - northside? - complete with little white painted stones outside!
Came back, eventually, on a Whispering Giant.

September 1965, British Eagle Britannia from Heathrow to Singapore, via Bahrain and Gan. Then a BOAC 707 to Darwin and Sydney, and finally an Ansett ANA Lockheed Electra from Sydney to Melbourne and our final destinatio, Adelaide.

I still wonder if Duxford's G-AOVT is that very same Britannia. :)

First flight: June 1966, BEA Viscount, only 18 months old so cant remember it :-(

First one I remember: June 1972 BEA Vanguard, :D Turnhouse runway 31 to Heathrow. Vividly remember it as I'd never seen Turnhouse so busy with five or six aircraft on the apron :o . It was a flying jack Vanguard and there was another in still wearing red square, plus a Viscount and Caledonian 1-11 I remember. Never forgot the sight of the Forth Bridges through the huge windows on the opposite side of the aeroplane, it was amazing.

First jet: Oct 1973 Dan-Air Comet 4B Glasgow-Palma, I was scared stiff of anything with no props

First GA: Aug 1981 Reims Rocket CS-AHC on the Algarve.

First at the Controls: Jan 1984 C150 G-AXUF.

cheers

Fraser

Mid 1955 in a DH82 out of YSBK. Another apprentice Ron Hayler was at the controls.
Then a week or so later went up with another apprentice, Ken Gould in an Auster.

In 1957. A short hop from Lyneham to Colerne in a Hastings of 511 Sqdn. Thereafter followed many boring hours going down the route in the same aircraft. Don't ever believe that flying to all the corners of the earth with Transport Command was glamorous.

First commercial flight was by Viscount from Heathrow to Ronaldsway I.O.M for honeymoon in June 1960. I forgot to mention to my bride, that it was TT week. John Hartle won the junior, and John Surtees won the senior race, both on MV Agustas. If I listen very hard, I can still hear the loud screaming noise of those engines. On 11th June, we celebrate our 49th anniversary, but my wife no longer screams. :$
