Looks like Tony is a natural!!

The first stall turn I ever experienced was in the back of an Auster Alpha - I wound up honking into my wellie boot@!!!!

Beautiful video as well

Being water tight AND big enough, I might start asking all back seaters to wear wellies now Leif - thanks for the tip ! :D

That looks a great day out, some really good photos too!

It brings back memories of watching a super tanker (departing Fawley) move across the top of a Chippy canopy at the top of a loop during a trip with the AEF at Hamble in the 70s. I hope we get that sort of weather on Saturday at Shoreham, I really am looking forward to seeing this Soviet beastie in the flesh.

Rich, just beware of the ones' who decide to honk at the top of a loop, the regurgitated breakfast/lunch has a nasty habit of finding its' way to the front end on the way down as one Chippie Pilot found out!!

Nigel.

Hey James,

At the moment, no, but its going to Lithuania next week (weather permitting) for a complete refurb, new paint job and fitting of extended range tanks. I need to do the maths to see if the smoke system is possible too. The onld Russian avionics behind the back seat has been removed already - thats where the smoke tank goes.

Cheers Nigel - thats sage advice and not something I'd like to experience first hand !

Thanks James,

Yes its a long way, but they're Yak specialists and able to do a bit more than just an external repaint. The ferry pilot set off today

The new paint job will look similar to this one: http://www.airliners.net/photo/Aerostar ... 1156980/L/

So these should be the last pics in the current paint scheme, taken by an aviation photographer called Geoff Collins at this weeks formation school at North Weald.
