She's a sorry state for sure now :((

Looked bad enough back in the 'eighties when I last saw her, from what I remember Redair oneside Redcoat the other but pics show the titles have faded right off now.

Must be sad for you Leif with so many memories of here alive *-)

She was according to my log book the last Brit I flew on in 1975 - from Sharjah to Gatwick

Although she is a mess she does fulfil an historic purpose as the last Brit at Luton.

I saw XM496 (Kemble) run all engines at the '98 Airshow there. But she was parked over the other side of the runway, so I could hardly hear her, and I think it was only up to ground idle. From what I remember there was an element of ground idle Tyne sound, but mainly a 'swishing' sound. It WAS due to do a taxi demo that day, but they had a brake problem. 8) That's the only time they've run it at Kemble Airshows. :'(

When I went on board that Brit once, they played a video of it doing its last 'daisy cutter' flypast and then landing at Kemble. Someone needs to get hold of that. :)

I'm sure DD entertainment (Ithink it is) will release Buccaneer soon...hopefully.

The Brit is my favorite propliner!

Hi Garry,

Another attempt:

http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=81567

Britannia is from about 17 mins 20 onwards so I recommend fast forwarding to it. Since the previous comments about sound being dubbed over the top,I'm not expecting much, but some nice video for you to watch if nothing else. I suspect the fly-by doppler sound is actually a taxi-past doppler effect - doesn't scream enough!

Thanks Toby

The whole makes an interesting clip. :)

As to sound though, still none the wiser as I've never heard one..........over to those that have. :worried:

Doesn't seem the noise matches the movement *-)

Sounds very much like I remember but still very jetty. Trouble is the video kept stopping to load so it may have affected the playback sound.

Brilliant find, Toby
I even mellowed enough to forgive the (obviously young) person who wrote the running notes, and probably never saw a proper airliner (propliner for short).
:xgrin:
It must be Christmas, or something.
