Thirty years ago you could fly to the US at Mach 2 wearing a lounge suit and sipping champagne.

Today you can't. :((

That's progress. :S

I saw Concorde take off from Filton from the back seat of a Chippie during an air experience flight in the mid seventies. I'm grateful to the pilot who wanted to watch that instead of flying some aerobatics.

I'd like to proclaim my presence as well! I elected to stand in a park directly under the approach about 700 metres from the threshold as I wanted her to fly directly overhead. As she dropped over the railway embankment I closed my eyes to hear the sound of the four Olympus engines in reverse thrust for the last time. Just at that moment the Spitfire flew over and the Merlin drowned it out. I could have wept. You can hear Merlins any time :(

Enjoyed the documentary though.

Yes.. I was there too. She flew over Pangbourne as I was making my way to Filton so I got to see her twice that day. Having gone through probably rain, sleet and snow.. I ended up a few days later with flu but wouldn't have missed it. I seem to remember the RR Spit going tech but it was more than a week ago so I really don't know now
