Magpies and Jays do far more damage then Hawks. I've lost count of the number of nests I've seen pilfered by the cackling b******s. Shoot Magpies, not Hawks!

Sparrowhawks, Kestrels, Buzzards, all Crow species, Rats, Squirrels, Cats, Foxes, Mustellidae all take songbirds and their young, eggs etc. The population of songbirds is declining, however in at least one place they are bucking the trend and going up. Funnily enough that is where they have the densest population of Magpies. The biggest problem affecting songbirds is us. In fact that more or less applies to anything non human or domesticated across the world. Perhaps we should shoot a few of us.
