Are you sure SkippyBing? The starship Enterprise has a crew of 430, but in several of the well known documentary films (they ARE documentaries aren't they?) they seemed to be able to crew it with about 8 people - and that must be way more complex than a "nuclear wessel".

Don't forget, Captain Picard's USS Enterprise had a crew of over 1000

They need all the spare crew for the planetary visits, they always lose one or two.

Yes.. Star Trek TOS is currently on CBS Action (I think it's called) daily at 5pm BST and the poor unfortunates wearing red tops are generally the first to go. Only Scotty is faser-proof (or is that phaser-proof?)
