Thanks guys for all the top tips . Sorry for lateness of reply ; away for 2 trips , plus sogginess of internet connections ….We’re above water , but a lot of Daarset is very wet .
Thanks for the video links .’’Kitty’’ Katie MacPherson[ lady in red coat ] was manager there even into the ‘70s , and was quite famous within BEA . She retired when BA withdrew the service and transferred to Loganair the next day, finally retiring in 1980. It was said that Barra was the only station where the manager bred his own staff. John MacPherson was the 1st manager when air services commenced in 1936 ,and was succeeded by his son and then daughter Katie .
May I commend to you a small book ‘Times subject to Tides ‘ by Roy Calderwood , published by Kea Pubs , ISBN 0-9518958-3-4 . The story of Barra airport .
Early a/c to use Tra’igh Mho’r were Short Scion , DH Dragons , Sparton Cruisers , And DH Rapides ‘til ’55 when Herons started , Skyvans [ Skyliner version ] 73’-74’ , Trislanders , Islanders , and until the present Twotters ; with a short unsuccessful interlude in ’94 of Shorts 360s.
Bill if it’s not too late , may I request a copy of your scenery please ?
George , yours looks good , but I’m fs9 , 2004.
Mike , Easter is late this year , so I’ll hope to try Bill’s first thanks ,
And Dave, thanks for heads up of V2 …… I'll try it out .

Hopefully if skills remembered map of Barra airfield

Hi Dave,

Send me a PM with your email. I can't promise it'll be possible tomorrow (Tuesday) and I'm away on holiday on Wednesday for 3 weeks but I'll send a package soon as I can.

Barra is amazing. My wife and I flew in there last summer on a beautiful day and I was in the front aisle seat right behind the pilot's shoulder. No cockpit door in the Twotter. Great view landing 25.

Thanks for the reminders of the old days.

Bill

Thanks Bill , will do . 1st hitched in during the 70's on Trislander , next visit about 2000 on Twotter . Just missed getting Skyvan posting by one course . Had to wait 16 years to get an ATP ... no didn't land , but got a flyby one rough day when we came back from Benbecula at low level avoiding turbulence .
Magic days and really privileged .
