Very sad to hear this news.
What a lovely and talented man he was. I very much enjoyed working with him on a few FS projects over the years.
A level of knowledge, detail and humour to admire.

A sad departure from the wings of the virtual world indeed.
The father of Viscount repaints and a name in all our hearts will never be forgotten.
I thought he'd live to tell his recovery tale in later times, but...
To learn of his death is the last thing I want happening,
For his CL-44 project (with help from Fraser) was the very reason why I'm a CBFS member.

Goodbye, Garry, and thank you for your contributions to flight simulation.

I waited a while to post this as after Leif, Garry was one of my true "Mentors" who originated from the far side of the pond. He and Leif together spent a lot of time outside of the public forum answering my questions and entertaining me, the young guy, by allowing me, in Garry's case, spend time researching the CL-44 for him and getting him more data and going through the massive CL-44 manuals available to me, something that he had a hard time doing due to his illness and the limited capabilities of his laptop. The last time we chatted via PM was a couple of years ago, but I still remember it well because he was getting ready for the move and was looking forward to getting a "real computer" so he could get back to work on his projects. Those projects I think it was kept him sane when he was in the hospital. Without them, I think he would've given up, but he just loved developing them so much and wanted to see them finished that he wanted to do whatever it took to get through it and see them out the door.

He will be greatly missed, but his legacy is well cemented and will live on.

At a loss for words. Thank you Aija for making our dear friend's final days happy ones. Rest in peace Garry.

Very sad to hear this news.

I can only echo what others have already written.

Garry's knowledge and work in the world of flightsim was truly majestic.

Always loved reading his posts and the repaints brought back some very fond memories of an aviation era long gone.

His memory will live on here and countless other places I'm sure.

Deeply saddened to read the news that I had feared for some time.
This place just won't be the same without his contributions, not least his puns.
Glad that he found happiness in the latter part of his life.

Don't think that mate.. I'm sure we're all glad you did. In our heart of hearts.. I think we all knew what had happened but not knowing one way or the other was almost as bad.

I remember speaking to him regularly when he was originally diagnosed with the first, years ago now. He was in a really bad way, but still managed to look forward to the trip to Southampton in the "air ambulance". The detail that he was able to recall, as many have said, was second to none. I'm relieved he isn't stuck in a hospital somewhere. The enjoyment he has given all of us we'll have forever. Cheers Garry

Perhaps they can take some consolation from knowing how many lives Garry had touched over the years, and the affection and admiration we had for him.
