Here's an updated sig for you Ian. No need to say thanks!

Their words, not mine.
I like the red tail scheme.
I'll concede that golden BOAC belongs on the VC10. Like BEA high speed jack belongs on a Trident.
Just felt a sudden panic that there were no red tails left, until Vegas calmed me down by mentioning Wroughton.
So long as one survives somewhere, that's all that matters.

I liked that livery as well DM
Much better than than miserable depressing Landor that was much duller than usually portrayed....maybe it bleached a bit with age.
It would be nice to see a One-Eleven back in that livery....with the smaller British Airways titles not the overbearing British.

Yes, it certainly would be good to see a 1-11 in red tail.
Perhaps Duxford will do the honours when theirs is next in for painting.
Yes Landor & many others must have suffered from the fact that nearly all of the good ideas had been done by then.
They had to resort to doing something different & once the novelty wears off it usually looks a bit naff.
That whole 'grey top' period was a real low point in livery design in my eyes. :huf: Then it was anything but straight lines.
I wonder why those retro painted ones nearly always look great?
Or am I just a dinosaur.

Also there was that all white with a logo period.....phases and fashions
As to grey tops United went to a similar sort of style as well.
The sight of the grey tops on a depressing grey day didn't cheer anyone up.
BMA were dark with their blue top then went darker with dark grey.
Funny how the blue on Air UK's blue planes (another hideous livery especially at first) was supposed to be dangerous but not BMA
I remember a view towards the light of an RAF Hercules in grey cammo parked by a BM Fokker 70
You could make out the markings on the Herk....the F70 was just a silhouette

Yep, all white + logo was ok, but rather overdone.
That United scheme has to take the prize for worst livery in airline history in my opinion, hideous beyond belief.
BA red tail - forgot the new Concorde exhibit at Brooklands too!
Now that's certainly the best livery to show a Concorde in.

I rather like the experimental Red-Tail livery with the silver top that was seen on one or two 737-200's

Hi Jonesey
Thats was a fad at the time.SAS also experimented with a DC 9 but like BA didn't adopt. .
I thought it was only G-BKYA

I can't remember that.
Have you got any link to a picture to jog the memory?
Perhaps it was always down south. I only remember the 1-11 with the white rudder being different from the norm.

Thanks Garry, yes I do vaguely remember that now. 'Orrible! But a certain novelty value.
For some reason I was imagining just the top part of the tail being silver (instead of red), not the whole top.
Glad none of my models ever wore that scheme cause silver is way too hard to paint in FS.
