Hello Mate

Thanks for that I feel awful dinking the old girl again but I couldn't not say I had. I could probably still fly with the use of some tape but to be honest, I don't want to risk it. As I said, the wing really needs to come out but a previous repair is making that look difficult. Still.. If I go for new wings to cut out the middle man.. I still have to get the old one out so I'll have to use the utmost caution. If it starts looking impossible.. I'll go with tape Chuffed to bits my repair held but signs of a fracture along the repairs length no more than a centimeter away shows the wing has perhaps had one too many dings.

Still.. as I said, a little disheartened but eager to get it up and running again. Goes like stink doesn't it I was having difficulty seeing her properly against one grey cloud but the threat of higher winds (which have since come) meant I had to go early rather than late. A lovely looking model in the air and she reacts instantly to input. The P51 is more docile by comparison.. fast, yes.. perhaps faster but a little less frantic thank goodness

The tree magnets are great aren't they. Never under estimate the power they posess Where I wanted to be was still water-logged as I found when my wellies were covered in water after a min or so so I kept on the move a little to find a firmer place to stand while avoiding known wet areas and keeping the wind in my face. As you know.. it's not good policy to take your eye's off these models for too long so I ended up closer to the tree's than I'd indended. A combination of location and not remembering Eddie's '6min rule' and there you go. I did actually think 6mins but then thought no.. that can't be right knowing what I get out of the SCub so I put 8mins on the timer. I should have known better even then as I only had the P51 up for 7mins last time out.

So.. the Stryker is faster than that little (I use the word little with care) ducted jet you have Hen's teeth! Is it faster than the Hunter too? Thank goodness you can see it at half throttle Do you use a 'Delta' setting on your txer for it or has that got nothing to do with Delta wing models? I have to admit they're bigger than I'd imagined. There's one on the wall next to a P51 at Wheelspin and I thought.. that's a right Bobby Dazzler Glad you're having fun with it

F******** Hell
took the stryker and the hunter to the field after initialy deciding against it. Hunter launches from ega tube launcher and 20m of bungie rubber After dozens of succesfull launches, for the first time the bungie failed to disconnect resulting in a short and rather abrupt flight
Not much damage and its now repaired but bugger bugger
Stryker flew fine, first time with a blue sky background pushed her around a bit but not wanting to lose another model only used one battery
Yes Dave the trannie is set to delta wing Its one of the wing type options when setting the programe for the model. The software does the rest so 2 servos do the job of ailerons and elevators.
May try again this evening or would that be pushing my luck

Bad news about the Hunter Dale even though it's repaired. That sort of failure doesn't exude confidence with further attempts does it

I know how you feel with the Stryker using only one battery. I had a spare in my pocket with the Cat this morning and could have taken the P51 or Cub out but I thought better of it The repair looks good by the way I managed to get more equal quantities of adhesive and hardner in the mix and it feels sound. I've a couple of smallish holes I'd like to fill but don't know what to use. Mixing more epoxy would do the job but it seems overkill and wouldn't be easy to get into the holes. I'll have to see if I can get some of that liquid foam or whatever it was Eddie mentioned some pages ago. The Cat already looks like it has a fair smattering of the stuff so a little more won't do any harm

Rgr on the 'Delta' setting. I presumed that's what it was for

Good to hear the damage isn't too extensive.

They certainly can take some serious punishment. These models are designed for the RC Pilot who suffer from occassional 'mind farts'.

Seriously though, can you imagine how we'd favour before the days of foam with those assembly-time consuming balsa models?

Been up with the p51 and Mig this morning.

I'm loving the Mig. Its just a little cracker to fly.

Surprisingly good at low speed too.

PS - I'd stay with a lipo of around 1300mah mate. Anything towards 2000mah is heavier and will have an impact on your CofG.

The Wildcat is happy with 1300 and I think its plenty.

Glad the Mig is proving a winner. I'll keep a weather eye on one for the future

Rgr on the batteries too mate. Once I start earning.. I'll secure a couple from that link you gave.. if I can find it The two I have are both 1300's but one is a tad punchier than the PKZ having a 25C discharge rate. That particular one is sitting in the Cat ready to go as I speak. Have been on QRF all day hoping for the wind to drop.. even been over the common myself to check what's happening first hand but it's just a bit too high for me to be comfortable. The old 'there are old pilots and bold pilots but no old, bold pilots' is screaming at me saying DON'T DO IT!
It's a bloody shame as it's a lovely day here. The wind is warm too.. just too much of it Have checked out the other side of the treeline on the common and it seems a fair bit dryer/firmer under foot so I may try there soon. Snag is, it put's me in visual with the canal and when I look at it now.. I see the SCub with floats on it

The Hunters been up. Forgot how well it looks in the sky, no change in trim setting, she still flys true
Tried the Cougar next, this needs a little bit more stretch in the bungie or it gets very close( touching ) to the ground before aerodynamics take over. Couple of good 5 min flights 4cell 3200mah batteries down to single % figures. I think the size of the models makes the speed of them a bit deceptive. At full chat both are easily as fast as the stryker I'd forgot just how quick they are. Finally put a couple of batteries through the stryker and ripped that round for a bit

I don't know which Hunter Dale has but it's not small.. probably twice the size of the P51/Wildcat

I didn't get out in the end. The winds dropped to acceptible levels later on (8:30-9:00ish) but I was cream crackered for some reason and couldn't drag my butt out of the chair Fingers crossed for tomorrow morning early AM It'll be with the Cat probably as she's fuelled and ready to go
