Mornin chaps. :hello:

It's already really warm here. I'm up and about and thankfully off work til Thursday.

Just gonna get the little monkey ready for nursery and I'm off out.

Think I'll fly the Radian today. Some great thermals with this warm weather. :)

I'll plonk the camera on Dave and try and upload later. ;)

Make sure you give that Cat some wellie today mate.

It's the only treatment they know!!

Hello Mate :hello:

Looking forward to the Radian Vid

I used to think that flying RC's would be very rewarding but of late, I'm more than happy to bring one back with the same number of pieces it went out with and still looks the same. Bugger the flying!
I can report 2 successful launches this morning AND 2 lovely landings  I went over the bigger part of the common this morning (the one closer to my soon-to-be water runway! ) and it was already very warm by 8am. Because of the mild, damp weather.. the place is alive with midges so you have to keep on the move a bit but I was careful not to stray too far away. A very slight breeze.. almost unnoticeable coming from the west/southwest but really.. not much to speak of. I managed to knock the aileron trim off centre on the second flight (bloody things) but realised early and corrected. Absolutely perfect flying conditions allowing me time to get used to the old girl without fighting the elements ;)
Timer set for 6mins 20s today.. the extra 20s added to allow me time to get ready, start the timer and drop it into my pocket then launch. Guesstimated when the 6mins would expire and kept the little fat lady at the extreme end of my cct ready for the beep-beep, beep-beep. This had it over the other side of the canal a lot of the time but allowed me plenty of time to manoeuvre to bring her in. Lovely bloody jubbly

I could really really do with taking both the Cat and P51 out to somewhere vast.. somewhere where trees are not an issue in any direction. Our common would have been great had the council not beautified it with tree's in the early 70's. 8) A runway would be nice for the SCub too. I don't want much do I

That'd be perfect mate  Not sure how long the LiPo batteries would last in those temperatures though. A long way to go for 30 seconds of flight

Hi guys,

Good to hear the Cat is behaving Dave. There is something very satisfying when your walking home or back to the car with an intact model and a number of flat lipo's. :tunes:

Just got back in. Time for some lunch and heading back out shortly.

Good fun with the Radian, although I must admit its the first time I felt that the Radian is lovely but too calm and collective for me now. *-)

Funny that seeing as warbirds we not on my list of favourite at the start of this thread. Weird how the appetite for speed comes back.

Took the camera but footage would'nt be worth uploading as I had some serious C of G issues with the Radian that needed ironing out.

Sorted now but I've returned home to collect the Mustang.

Four lipo's full. One charging (that I used in the Radian this morning). Once the juice is back in that I'm off up the hill again. :agree:

Also got to cram in the gym today and then got some gardening to do at some point.. :worried: :worried:

Not enough hours.. :S :S

Excellent mate and no worries about the vid. Flying with an effed up CoG is no fun at all is it.. it's like having your trim settings all out.. something I'm used to of late! :worried:

There's a nice little housing on the battery cover on the SCub.. I think for dropping bombs on parachutes which looks perfect for attaching a camera to. When I eventually get floats for the old girl.. I'll give my 'built in' camera mount more thought. Until then.. you wouldn't really want to see one of my 'dunk' landings would you.. no, you wouldn't

I find the Cat very sharp with regard to inputs. No dual-rate facility on the FMS txer so I'd have to start farting around with control horn settings and I'm not up to that yet  With it in the hands of someone skilled, I can only imagine just how aerobatic it is. My flying can look like aerobatics but it's really just me out of control!

Yes mate.. it's only 30-odd pages and you've come full circle back to warbirds. Everything is still a little too fast for me but I hope I don't get too used to the speed and not be able to enjoy something like the Hawk or Radian in the future ;) I think I might risk the P51 out next time. It does go slower than the Cat when I want it to and the dual-rate on the ZX10 helps keep things a little less busy ;) Having flown the Champ the other day.. I think I could fly it within the bounds of the back garden now. How quickly things change ;)

Dale sent me a shot of his Jets and the Stryker on his back garden yesterday evening. If he says it's OK, I'll post it for you once I've dragged it off the phone :)

No problems re posting the piccie Dave
Shot was taken at our strip yesterday evening after the hunter and cougar had made use of the launcher. both jets are RC Lander models, bout 36in wingspan, 68mm fan they can consume 700watts on a fresh battery :-O
Near perfect conditions this morning Took the cougar greensleeve (2m glider) stryker and seagull spacewalker. All had several batteries through them. Started to cloud over mid day so called it a draw

Hello Mate :hello:

Yes.. I see now with the picture not on the phone that it's definitely NOT your back garden. It wouldn't be there anyway with the Stryker in view! Anywho.. here's the shot of Dale's speedbirds

I'm glad you sent this mate as I'd wondered what the jet launcher looked like ;)

I lost what remained of the morning waiting for an electrician to arrive then a lot of the afternoon when he finally did then a mate from my RN days turned up so it was good old chinwag time  The weather is still fine here too though the troll's are about. A different plan for tomorrow. Out early again (forecast for here identical to today with equally low winds.. 5mph) get back.. recharge the 2 batteries then out again. The troll's don't rise until coming 11am so I might get 3 runs out before they do

Change of tack. Think the P51 is next out ;)

Wow some serious firepower there. :-O

All of em look the business. Nice fleet Dale. :)

I don't think I could be trusted with anything in that collection. :worried:

Had a brilliant afternoon with the Mustang. Used all five lipos. :tunes:

And an added bonus was there was not a soul about. Peace and tranquility and a screaming warbird.

My buddy, Gareth, is popping over tomorrow. The geezer that got me started in all this.

Going with our children onto the fields of flight. He is going to bring a few of his fancy birds.

I'll post a snap or two after later on tomorrow.

Lookin forward to seeing him fly. He is rather good. B-)
