Speaking of paintkits, Michael Davies has graciously released a paintkit for the Alphasim Meteor.

Here's the link.

I don't recall too many repaints being done for the Halibag/Halton.. in fact, I remember only one (Friday 13th for the Halibag) and this was done by the chap who did the release paints.. Gerry Flores. I still think this was one of his finest paints ;-)
Gerry has recently rejoined the forum after a long layoff so perhaps he might like to get his brushes wet again

A new bare metal repaint for the Halton would be rather nice. ( Hark at me making suggestions and never getting down to learning the process meself  )

The pannier first appeared during WW2 on RAF "C" marks of Halifax. I think FL was serving in the ATA as a flight engineer at the time.
However, during the Berlin Airlift, one of the problem loads was SALT. This is highly corrosive to most airframes, and was therefore initially transported in various Short flying boats, but with the likelihood of lakes freezing over in winter, a landplane solution was required. This took the form of a stainless steel pannier - I don't know who's idea this was, but FL seems a likely suspect.

The latest post about this
http://www.cbfsim.org/cbfsim/cbfsBB/vie ... 12&t=14038, which was redirected by Garry back here, shows a few more freeware items. I had not realise that the B-24 and C-130 were new additions to the freeware, but the links don't work any more - instead they redirect to an empty page at UKMil.
But no problem since they are now up at Avsim with the Jaguar and Spitfire.
