The prospect of overhead poo is not an appealing one, so I think I'll give it a miss too. The airshow scene has really suffered from the weather this year. :-(

Yes indeed.. and they seem to be getting wetter

I think.. for the sake of me NOT getting a bad impression of what Old Warden can do.. I may just go to Duxford anyway as I've been wet there many times before  Also.. if Rick is going (as he will in the car.. fair weather rider!).. this'll be my last opportunity to catch up with him until maybe May next year which makes it almost worth the entry fee to stand and complain about everything with a like-minded person for a few hours  If it's REALLY honking down here in say.. 8hrs time.. I'll probably not bother getting the bike out. Otherwise.. well.. we'll see ;-) The last show of the year sometimes offers a goodly selection of buying opportunities (great last year on the FAA stand.. until I got home and all my booty was confiscated by the female side of the family) and really.. there's nowt like riding a motorbike in the rain to keep a Grumpy Old Man like me 'As Grumpy As it Get's' This'll be a FIRST for me as I'm not even taking or planning to take a camera!! :o

Autumn Air Display Sunday 5th October 2008

AIRSHOW CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER, COLLECTION STILL OPEN WITH TOURS AVAILABLE WITH PILOTS

Currently no such announcement for Duxford, and I'm still contemplating on whether to go or not. I'm hoping that the weather will clear up, or at least ease off a little, and I know that a Typhoon can be very impressive in damp weather! The F-16 would be none too shabby, either. Decisions, decisions.

Glad I didn't decide to go to Old Warden in the end then!!

It rained all the way to Duxford and for most of the time there. A show of some sorts DID happen (including the F16).. I left at 4pm while the Typhoon was doing it's thing. Too many hours wearing wet socks got the better of me  Buying opportunities made.. new set of coveralls.. Rick bought a rather splendid Airfix Buccaneer and a couple of very diddy BEA Viscounts (of which I have one) Two lousy cups of coffee (Ricks first included a tea bag in the cup! :o ) and all for two quid a throw (which is what we both did with the first cups as it was THAT bad :o

Nice to meet up with Rick and Mark plus Gordon and the Skysim boys again. See ya all next year

Hi Matey

Yes it was a dodgy place to buy coffee for sure :dunno:

Better than sitting indoors watching the rain run down the windows (for me anyway)

i got 51 mpg out of the micra on the way home mate as i had a tailwind  (46.6 mpg on the way there) (i love Japanese cars!)

hope you didn't get much colder on the way home as it became bitter at duxford after about 4 PM

Anyway good meetup and great chat with Mark about all our newer FSX native projects as he's a blinder at inventing new ideas for me.

yes very pleased with the Bucc in 1/48 as it's 100 times more accurate than the 1/48 Airfix hawk i bought and was so disgusted with how innacurate it was it's still in it's box (undercarriage could be off a meteor it's so bad!) :-#

Regards
Rick

Hello Mate..

No.. no colder. If anything, I was actually warmer going home!! It's surprising how much heat off the engine is diverted onto your feet via that fairing. You wouldn't think it to look at it but I rarely get cold feet even in winter (which is pretty much what today was) Thankfully.. it didn't rain again either ;-)
