Yes on reflection although I enjoyed much of it, the NHS tribute was a bit bizarre, I get the GOSH thing but the organisation overall ..... hmmmm. Maybe for the closing they will feature Bob Crow and his London Underground Strikerettes singing the old Strawbs hit, " Part of the Union". Bizarre.

What a bunch of Meldrews!

After watching Madge skydiving SWMBO decided yesterday at 1pm that it would be worth seeing an Olympic event. In honour of Mitt Romney we decided to go and watch 11 American lasses kicking a stiff empty bag of wind round a stadium. So at 2.30 we got in the car, drove to the local station, caught a near empty train down to Mount Florida 15 minutes away, strolled down the road and took our pick of ticket booths, chose an empty table at the security check and then joined a 20% capacity crowd to watch 2 international matches with 9 goals in total for £20 each.

Only fly in the ointment was SWMBO refusing to let me run on with a tube of linament every time a player fell over.

Don't know what you Southerners are grumping about.

I don't pretend to understand cycling, but was bemused to get home and watch the British hot hope complain that he finished 40 seconds behind the winner because the Aussies didn't want him to win - like they ever want anyone else to win but a Brit!

I thought the opening ceremonies were spectacular. Made me very proud of my British heritage. Of course, NBC here in the Colonies did not show the ceremony until 19:30 US EST. Then they plastered their coverage with incessant commercials and inane comments. Despite that, I enjoyed the show and thought it was much more intimate by involvimg the audience, unlike Beijing. Quintessentially British with plenty of wit and humour! I wonder what Mitt the Twit thought of the tribute to the NHS? Hey, some of those nurses could really bust some dance moves. My favourite though had to be the Queen's arrival.
