Good idea Chris. For anyone thats interested... theres a long debate on the future of Emerald on pprune, with all the ins and outs and financial jargon (and members competing to see who has the most experience in insolvency/debt/equity/venture captial etc etc) :roll: Not too much on the reasons for the AOC being pulled, though those have been covered here, with the exception perhaps of the personnel issues.

Back on topic, checking the thread at pprune, it seems hope of salvaging Emerald seems to have faded and most of the people on the forum who were Emerald employees have now received their redundancy notices.

'Whale' for the 747, 'Pocket Rocket' for the 727 Advanced models, 'Diesel-8' for the DC-8, 'Douglasaurus Rex' for the DC-10, and a few others that shouldn't be mentioned in a public forum....

Heard a 737 captain talking to Manc.ATC a few years back.
ATC must have heard him or his right seater say something wasn't right.
They came right back and asked if he wanted to call an emergency.
He said no everything was OK,it's just that they were flying the fleet pig
that night

Is it likely that Emerald won't be resurrected, and in that case, I wonder what will happen to the 748s?
People like our Jonesey who hang around Liverpool Airport watching 'Budgies', must be getting withdrawal symptons! :sad:
Does this mean we have no 748s flying to the UK at the mo? (apart from XW750)

I don't know if any 748's are flying in the UK apart from XW750 I can't think of one. But from what I can remember XW750 is about finished.
I read recently it was being retired about June but I can't say if that was fact or rumour.
It that is the date then it may already have stopped aprt from the odd quicky.

Anyone know whats happened to Emerald and its fleet? Havent heard anything for ages now. Was half hoping someone might acquire an out-of-hours budgie and stick it in a museum.
