During my time in the RN, The Hermes went to the US, Norway, France ("where entente cordial went out of the window, like many french sailors -The Sun 1983")Turkey & around the Med.
The carriers stopped going "far east" during the 70s & 80s But once the Invinc class came out they started again.

PW was PrestWICK not which, the home of 819 squadron until it demise & current home of SAR flight until the civvies take over next year I believe.

I have just reread this post & wonder if someone can do HERMES off the Falklands (roughly100 east of Stanley) I think it was roughly where we sailed up & down the Yellow Brick Road. I wish I was as fit now as I was then.
I'm the one with the glasses & US flight deck helmet, the RN started issuing them just before I left the RN, they were highly prized items of kit in the 70s/80s.

I'm sure DaveG still has his original and if asked in a gentlemanly fashion, would oblige by making it a static doon sooth when time permits :) He'd need a location (grid ref) as given only the Yellow Brick Road.. he may put it in Hollywood ;)

Ooo.. just had a thought. He may not have FS9 installed anymore *-)
