The coastline in FS9 is really poop isn't it. I thought FSX was bad but 9 sinks to lower depths

Anyhoo.. the rebuilding of Porstmouth in FS9 continues..

It's not going as easily as I'd hoped. The VFR Terrain makes the area more like a relief map of the Himalayas and I've not learned to 'flatten' yet. Also.. the VFRPhoto texture res is so poor compared to GenX, it's not easy to make accurate placement.. I have to slew up to 1200ft  Exact placement isn't important really. The object of the exercise is to try and bring the area up to my FSX standard as far as buildings/ships e t c go. It's a long haul but it's getting there :)

George.. another question for you :worried:

Remember me mentioning those 'zillion' little boats I added to Portsmouth in FSX yesterday.. well, they've gone today :-O I put them into their own bgl so they could be removed quickly if FR's got too bad and the bgl is still there. The same little boats are dotted around Portsmouth though added to an existing bgl rather than have one of their own. I'm sure there must be a valid reason why the new ones aren't showing but I can't get my head around why? *-) They're default objects from the FSX water vessels library.

EDIT: I made another bgl yesterday for more of these little boats at the Solent Marina but I mixed the selection up. The small sailing boat/sail down has gone from there too although all the others are still present. Odd :dunno:

What happens if you run IS and open the bgl? Do you see the boats?

Hello Mate..

A cunning plan I'd already tried. I couldn't see the bgl in the drop-down list :dunno: Had this happen at OW but the bgl was visible and when I opened it, the missing aircraft appeared. Cured it by taking the bgl out of addon scenery\scenery and dropping it into VFR Airfields part 2\scenery.

EDIT: I realised what I'd not done after I typed the above. The answer is yes.. when I navigate to the bgl and open it, the boats appear.

So, why not put the boats bgl into the same folder as Portsmouth?

Sorry to bump this thread but I've just noticed there's a new version of IS (v3) available over at Flight1 and for those who bougt v2 on or after 1 Jan 2013, there's a free upgrade. Any idea when I bought v2???

A few days off and we're all at it.

George, Have you ever used FSET to create the different season tiles other than just the Day / night ones? MS have finally got high res photo tiles of all of NI so I'm going to have a go at doing all of it. At the moment, I've just got FSET downloading the area to the cache (all of NI, its been running for 24hr now and I'm only just over half way there.) I was going to do a little experiment with Rathlin Island just off the North Coast, but I'm curious as to whether or not you think its worthwhile.

Cheers,

Ben
