Still too many annoyance in it for me and I was quite disappointed with v1.04 improvements. The lack of a start up screen being the biggest howler for me. Alt Space for one doesn't work. Eyefinity which they claim was improved in a word wasn't, if anything its worse. I could go on but I will tempt fate here by saying, my heavily improved FSX is just great at the moment. :hide:

I'm inclined to agree. There does seem to be a few anomalies in 1.4. P3D is definitely "smoother" but even my freshly reinstalled FSX that only has the UK2000 stuff / UK GenX and REX is a much better all round experience at the moment :worried:

I have a feeling LM are doing this in an attempt to maintain the premise that it's a training simulator rather than for home entertainment as required by their license with MS for the ESP source code.

What's Alt+Space not doing? It may just be that the key assignment needs to be made as it doesn't seem to come with the complete range of FSX assignments, alternatively you can point it at your FSX key assignments (Standard.xml I think) and it'll use those.

If only P3D would catch the smoothness and FPS like FS2004 running on only 2 cpu!

Speaking of CPU cores, that reminds me. There's a post on the P3D forum by a P3D software engineer explaining how P3D's efficient use of multicores can be optimised by the affinity mask setting in the config file.

Ooops I'm an idiot. I meant Alt & Return, the quick window to full screen switch toggle. It is instant in FSX, more often than not doesn't work in P3D at all for me.
The other bugbear I forgot to mention is the total lack of support for TrackIR and LM high & mighty attitude toward it. Yet if they want to use this for professional simulation purposes I would think it essential almost or somehing similar.

There is a hack to get TrackIR working in P3d, but it's totally unofficial & unsupported.

I don't think it's totally LMs fault it doesn't work. Natural point could get it working if they wanted to.

I don't use Track IR but the guy who has built the FSX2P3D tool reckons his latest version will install it. Details are on the second page of this P3D forum thread.

For the ALT+RETURN, I'm pretty sure I found that you now have to do it twice. E.g. ALT+RETURN, ALT+RETURN. I expect it cures another problem that wasn't apparent to us!

Don't forget that P3D isn't a flight simulator. It is intended to become a whole world simulator with undersea and overland vehicles to allow Companies to use it to simulate multi-function scenarios. LM will be developing it towards that commercial end and flight simulation will hopefully be a good spinoff from that. No guarantees about it and despite them being very active on the forum, individuals are not their prime market.

I will stick with FSX but keep my beedy on P3D.
With my new rig I get 25+ fps over VFR London with A2A aircraft. Can't complain at that.
Every where else 50+.
Flying is smoooth.
