DaveB wrote:Yeah.. like that too Ben.. I love a blue face on a watch ;) Pity it doesn't have numbers or I'd be tempted myself

EDIT: Here's the newer version of mine (mine is an automatic rather than quartz and it's 'sadly' not accurate enough.. for me that is)
http://www.revue-thommen.ch/en/portfoli ... folioID=13 (it's the one with the blue dial and blue calf strap)

Ooo, I've got that with a yellow face and metal bracelet, picked it up when I was working in Singapore years ago. I say 'got', it's been in the menders for six months while they wait for a new ratchet for the bezel timer, which turns out to be different to the one fitted to the blue model and for some reason harder to track down. I should probably chase them up again before I run out of working watches...

Looks great Ben, there's some lovely watches on this thread and I'm having to try very hard to keep the credit card in the wallet!

Some of those Christopher Ward watches that Allan posted are so tempting!

In keeping with the theme, here's my cheap Seiko automatic, looses around half a minute a week which is bloody brilliant!

That's a really nice watch Rob. That's the 7S26 movement (I think) and its bullet proof. Its been around for donkeys years and I almost bought the bracelet version of that very watch. Needless to say I didn't win the lottery on Saturday (didn't do it  ) so my Grand Seiko will have to wait another week.

Yep that's the movement Ben, I've read reports of them working just fine after 20 years with no service whatsoever!

There's something nice about having an automatic with all the little gears and cogs and moving bits. Far more characterful than a battery and an LCD screen.

I brought this some time ago on the recommendation of the PH watch forum someone mentioned earlier, there's some good stuff on there in the 'What watch for £50' thread.

I've an expensive Nixon fashion watch and a £10 Casio too and the Seiko gets 90% of the wear unless I'm in my public order kit at work or wearing super smart clothes (which is very very rare!)

Might be time for you to break and buy that lottery ticket!

Well,

Finally arrived today, and I'm very pleased indeed.

Below I have copied all of the tracking information. Its easy to get excited when the package reaches the UK within 48 hours, but its then the waiting start. I'm not saying it was unduly long, but if you've never done it before its easy to get miffed when a package can get half way around the world in 48 hours to then take a week to get from Coventry to Sunderland. Once Parcelforce receive the package they pass it to the UK Boarder Authority. They make sure its not dubious and work out the charges. This took 5 days before Parcelforce are notified of how much duty etc to collect. The process is that Parcelforce then send you a letter notifying you of the charges and advising how to pay. Once you've paid they release the package. Now I assumed (wrongly) that this would happen automatically when Parcelforce get the notification through from UKBA. It doesn't. The notification letter doesn't get sent to you until it arrives at the PARCELFORCE regional distribution office. (N.B. This is NOT your local Royal Mail sorting office.) I didn't want to wait for the letter, so phone the Cleveland regional office yesterday and a very helpful lady let me make payment of the charges and dispatched it so as it was delivered today.

Hi Ben, glad you are sorted at last, now wasn't all the waiting worth it?

My father when he was alive (bless him) used to say the looking forward to something was always better than when getting it as once you've got it then you have nothing to look forward to!!!! :wall: Never did work for me!! 8)

Nigel.

Cheers matey, I will indeed. As a point of interest, the day is both Kenji and English on the same dial, so simply select which language you want by setting the day between 00:00 and 01:00. Dam clever these Japanese

Battery is on it way for your world watch too. ;)
