Sorry Garry, but what would they replace it with? Reality shows? Big Brother? Cookery? More soaps?

I'd much sooner see footy, tennis, golf etc. than an increase in cr@p. Televised football doesn't take up a great deal of unsubscribed TV hours in the whole scheme of things.

Put som good old Classic films on

Period drams, documentaries.lots of programmes they no longer show

My main beef is often these sports replace the programmes that would normally be on

Keep sports off the main channels

TCM, Film 4, and daytime BBC ITV and C4 do that quite well.

And UKTV Gold, Dave etc do a lot of that, ITV 2 & 3 are pretty good for old series as well.

Yes they do, but they generally attract much larger audiences than the show they're postponing. Anyway, I'm not arguing with someone who builds aeroplanes of the finest calibre. Thank gawd Grandstand and World Of Sport are no longer on all Saturday showing endless UK wrestling, horse racing and only snippets of those sports "we" really wanted to watch. :hide:

Actually - I don't have a tv, per say, I have a USB tv tuner but it's been days since I've had it plugged in.

TV - . bah... they ( the advertisers ) are more interested in programming you - then a programming schedule.
they know a very fundamental flaw in humanity. Blind one persons judgment by dangling a shinny object in the eye
and before you know it they have a mass of people saying do whatever just ...gimmie more
Thereby gaining many more who will join in just - not to be left out

turn away ... do not look into the beast

Besides, most of the junk "they" put on the boobtube is people behaving badly and being rewarded for it.
do what ever it takes , to make the money.
I mean they are saying right to your faces. I will stab you in the back if it means money or notoriety.
But I'll do it by the rules and with a smile, so nothing personal.

wow.. I got a little carried away !... whew ... somebody tell a joke!!

Yup.. the standard 'terrestrial' channels are BBC1, BBC2, ITV1, Ch4 and Ch5. Best thing to do is get a freeview/freesat box (freesat requires a sat dish of course) or go Sky or cable if able. I dunno what the hell I'd do without freeview/freesat. There's plenty of rubbish on for sure but one can avoid sport completely  Had the box on this afternoon (freesat) and watched ITV4.. Randall and Hopkirk Deceased followed by The Saint.. then a couple of crappy Cop progs and now The Prisoner (Hammer to Anvil.. a good episode) ;) Ah well.. time for Ch4 now as the Simpsons are due to start!

My TV is hooked up to my DVD player and nothing else. When I fire up my TV there's only good stuff on...The Battle of Britain, Das Boot, The War Lover, The Great Waldo Pepper, etc. Oh, and as for a joke...

The new nun goes to her first confession. She tells the priest that she has a terrible secret. The priest then tells her that her secret is safe in the sanctity of the confessional.

She says, "Father, I never wear panties under my habit."

The priest chuckles and says, "That's not so serious, Sister Bernadette. Say five Hail Marys, five Our Fathers, and do five cartwheels on your way to the altar."

There is a real World out there with real things we need to know.

I can't get away from the football.....wherever I turn..it's there

Other than that...........OK
