Nice one mate
Glad that all went well Nice purposeful looking model Should do you nicely for flying off the common
May do you to get some 1800 lipos as a bit of a compromise Keep the weight down a bit for your fpv cam

Hello Mate :hello:

I love the way you're always thinking ahead

As it happens.. I've already looked at 1800's.. even 1600's and they all seem to leap the jump to the larger size up (physically that is). This is ok for both the Bixler and Walrus but they're too big for the Cub, Mustang and Wildcat.. especially the Cub which as you know, has a small battery mounting box.

Interesting to see charge times off the 1300's and 2200. The Overlander and Parkzone charged in 16.21 and 24.42 respectively and the Turnigy 2200 took 21.36.. all for 6mins duration. The Overlander is 25C-35C, the Parkzone a piddling 15C-20C and the Turnigy is 20C-30C. There's more available from all 3 but it'll take a while to find a good compromise :) I don't tend to push the Parkzone battery and keep it for more sedate flying. I'm already happy to take both the Overlander and Turnigy to 10mins but not at full chat. I don't need a nervous breakdown  Won't be buying anything with less than 20C constant ;)

Took advantage of the fine weather and an earlier start with the Walrus this morning. Still can't believe just how well it launches.. no dropping.. no left/right.. just wings level and a gentle climb  Put the 1300 Overlander through it first for a timed 10min (6mins on the clock then I let it count up for a further 4) then the 2200 Turnigy. I adjusted the clock to count down from 10mins for this. Got the OL on charge now.. can't wait to see what it takes :)

On the subject of batteries.. I'm still not sure what to order.. a couple more 2200's or a couple of 1800's *-) I'm edging toward getting some with a minimum of 25C.. any less doesn't seem enough some how *-)

The ESC felt hot after the second battery but it has to be said.. it IS warm here this morning. Glad I didn't give it some large or it may have melted through the fuse

Servo covers are proving difficult. I didn't want to glue them (seems too permanent) so I got some double-sided tape.. which doesn't want to stick 8) Could be the heat I guess *-) If I don't do something, I've a feeling I'll lose one or more.

Wing markings/decals work remarkably well for orientation. Had her up high and out this morning and no difficulty seeing which way up she was :)

Thought the handling 'went off' a little half way through the Turnigy. Realised after I'd landed that I'd knocked the dual-rate switch for the ailerons (this receiver was originally in the Mustang and setup with DR on the ailerons and elevator). Must dial it out.. I'll do that now in fact ;)

Not sure about the flaps yet. Leaving them at 100% seems a little too much so I may drop them back to 75%.. something like that.

AR500 has turned up as have the RAF roundels for the Harvard

Was gonna nip back with the Bixler but having hung the washing out, I now see the trolls have surfaced :| We're awash with the b1oody things already and they're not all off yet.. last lot finish today 8)

Right.. that's me done for today.. at work again this afternoon. Having the kids off does have one advantage.. the roads are quieter! ;)

EDIT: The Overlander 1300 charged in 33.21 and.. if I understand the numbers on the charger correctly (don't hold me to it).. it put 577 out of 1300 back. The Turnigy 2200 took 27.25 and put back 804. On the strength of this, I'd be happy to run the 1300 for 15mins.. perhaps 20mins with more gliding and the 2200 for at least 20mins.. both with a handful of safety time :)

EDIT#2: 2x Turnigy 2200 30C constant on the way ;)

A note for Tony Madge..

TM.. should you ever decide to get your Cessna in the air..
Remember us talking about possible flying areas a while back and Fradley was mentioned? Well.. I deliver around that area quite often and I passed next to what looked like a good flying place from Google Earth. Sadly.. it has 'Private Property, Keep Out' signs dotted all over the place so that one is out I'm afraid :( Didn't want you to make a trip over there only to find you couldn't get in.
Damned shame as little seems to happen there. That vid on YouTube must have been shot before the present occupiers were there.. that or the bloke totally disregarded the signs (and the locked gate) :worried:

Though I'd share some photos taken from this mornings flight with the Cub Just about satisfied with the camera mountings ability to absorb the vibrations from the engine

Westward looking towards Moel famau with Kinnerton about a mile away. The white tower some distance out is the kiln at Padeswood cement works
Image

Looking Northwest the British Aerospace factory at Broughton with Hawarden airfield behind it
Image

In the forground is the village of Doddleston You may be able to make out the river Dee to the left of the picture as it heads towards Chester in the distance
Image

Looking down onto the flying strip The maize in the surrounding field is 8ft tall The Picasso is by the gate and I am just a dot somewhere near the middle of the strip

Nice one mate  Which camera did you go for in the end?

I see now why you were unable to find the Zlin :-O

Took the Walrus out on Tue and the Bixler out yesterday. Started getting a bit bumpy for the Bixler so went home after a couple of batteries. I bought a couple of 1500mAh 3S Turnigy's a couple of weeks ago to replace the old 1300 you gave me with the Cub and the Parkzone 1300 that came with the P51. Not sure if the choice was a wise one as I reckon they're probably a bit too big for both the Cub and P51 (physical dimensions) *-) Still.. they fit in both the Bixler and Walrus fine giving me a possible 75mins plus flying time should I get that bored

Initially bought a Nikon s31 which is marketed as a kids camera Shock proof water proof etc But the main reason being, it had time lapse built in So you could just set it up and it would continually take shots without intervention. After many blured photos later I found that when set to time lapse the image stabliation was disabled  So to take advantage I built an enclosure for the camera and fitted a servo to trigger the shutter Pics now better but as a kids cam it had little in the way of adjustments, so over the the Olympus vr350 good wide angle lens and about the same size as the nikon so fits nicely in the same enclosure just a bit of alteration the the trigger location Will put the nikon on ebay at some stage

Was close to getting the go pro but several things against
Go pro is best suited to video which its very good at. however it would struggle to get a decent vid from the cub bearing in mind the vibrations from the donk. The field of view is extreem to the point where the its distorted (fish eye ) which my feelings spoil still photography. Battery life on the series 3 is poor and as you say is expensive ;)
Suppose the cub isnt the best platform for aerial photography but it gives me a good excuse to fly it

Rgr that mate ;)

Understood re 'fish eye'. I'm not a big fan either 8) Do you notice the additional weight with the camera onboard?
