I have spent the last few hours reading all the 'UKMIL is CLOSED' threads on various forums. the General reading tends to go along the lines of, we are sad you are closed, your SCENERY was amazing! but the aircraft were not so good.

so the general feeling, even amongst the well wishers, is that the Aircraft design area is not very good, so maybe I will give this up, and branch into something else.

Should I re-launch in September, I feel the aircraft modelling is just going to get hit again, so expect no more models

Hi Dave

That's pretty much how I read it too. However, there's some mileage in keeping low-poly models in mind.. particularly for the AI packs as an airfield, no matter how good it looks, can be a pretty lonely place to be without suitable AI in situ. Just a thought ;-)

As Dave B says there is a lot going for them as low poly model to fill your great airfields

Your models are better then most AI and if they were up to the detail standard they are criticised as not meetting then they would not be able to populate in sufficient numbers on most machines.

If they were packaged as such then they should quell a lot of the moaners.

You could even perhaps put the airfields and based aircraft linked from one place as a one stop shop

Just an idea but it would be so nice to see them supported for what they are instead of feeding the moaners who only want to complain about 'what they are not'.

Unfortunatly, our scenery team left. So any new venture I MAY take on, will not have any new scenery.

Hi Dave,

Can I just reiterate something, all the scenery team did not leave mate, only 3 of the 6 left, the three remaining where more than capable of running the scenery section of ukmil and they where a good base to build on. You closing the site Dave in the way you did resulted in the other 3 guys going as they had no choice in the matter you took that away by shutting the site.

If only you had thought about it a bit more professionally and maybe asking us what our plans where you would have found that even though we wanted to try something new on a new forum we still wanted to work with yourself. We didn't have chance to say that as within a few hours of our announcement the site was closed and everyone rather irritated by it.

It's just a shame how it turned out. I would have liked my 2 year period at ukmil to be remembered with fondness unfortunately the way it ended makes me want to just forget the entire experience.

I for one enjoyed your aircraft and AI aircraft and think it would be a waste of talent for you not to continue on. I just wish you could see how many people really like ukmil which is how I read the forums, I guess your a glass half empty kinda guy because I read more people supporting you and the site than being against it.

Good luck Dave and I hope your trip to penguin land is a good one.

Dave,

We haven't always got on well in the past, but as a developer then I heartily support a break from FS, I've been out of the loop for quite a while and the interest bug is now biting again, too much of the same thing leads to drudgery, short tempers and prickly fighting, usually within.

Take a big break and then in say six or eight months see how you really feel, if you didn't miss it then you know its time to hang your hat up, if you missed it then look for something new, try not to go back tothe old ways as you'll become stale quite quickly again.

Kindest
