Hi Folks
Ant -
Noticed you've posted about logbook issues on another forum,
please post that info here,
along with any other 'symptoms' you have,
as they'll probably aid tracking down the root cause.

I've had a few errors with a corrupt log book, which when present, prevents FSX from starting. I've managed to restore the log book by using a logbook fixer that will analyse and repair the book. It's happened a few times recently and I don't know why.
Other than this, and the transparent VC on the Maltby's, FSX is running very well indeed with even FPS intensive aircraft such as Captain Sim's C-130 and 757. I also use the Wilco 737 and Airbus Vol 1 and 2 without any issues. I've got most of my performance settings up pretty high too, a testamant at to how well the computer appears to handle this. The processor is an Intel E6600 core 2 duo 2.4Ghz, I've got 4Gb Ram (windows will only see 3.Gb) and the graphics card is nVidia GTX260 896Mb Ram.
There are other various free add ons also that aren't giving any issues, UKMil aircraft I think are the only other add ons.

Still none the wiser with the transparent VC

Interesting, after playing around with settings for a while, I decided to delete the 'converted for FSX' Trident and download the FS9 Trident. Now the VC is all there to see. I'll have to see if there's no other issues, as the sound is quite different when outside, more 'louder and unclear' if you get me.
Edit: Sorted out the sounds and smoke from the converted ones, plus the same has worked for the 1-11.
Why I haven't tried this before, is anyones guess. I must have been thick, or something.

Ta
I'm wondering if where I went wrong was with the 'textures' files. As I'd not been into the textures folder to remove them, so when I added them, I were never asked if I wish to overwrite. So leading me to think that I had never copied those necessary files into the textures folder.

A few things I need, is a smoke correction for FSX for the Comet.
And also some tips on take off rolls with the 1-11 and the Trident. I've not much experience with the Trident, but with the 1-11 I have, but rather unusally, with both, I'm finding difficultly building up enough speed on an 8000ft runway to rotate, even with water injection, I'm nearly maxing out the engines, then stalling as I'm climbing out of the way of obstructions at a rate of 2000 ft/min. Strange, I've not played with the payload, centre fuel tanks are empty, any ideas?

Hi Ant, if you look in the aircraft cfg under smoke system, the effects instructions for FSX are there (and in the readme)

Have you got the elevator trim set correctly for take-off?

I think Foddas correct there but to be clear are you using 8000 feet to get the correct speed or are you having to get a high speed to rotate??
