No point using 7.62mm as a main gun on an AFV, total waste of fuel

I was brought up on submarines, the old T and A class boats..ex-WW2, they were given the 'slippery-T' conversion, removal of deck gun, streamlined, more batteries installed, they changed from lumpy grey to streamlined black I remember the names, Tip-toe, Talent, Tabard, Alaric, Acheron, Andrew....

Dad told me once that the deck gun crew would come out in a bubble, by the time the deck cleared the surface the gun was loaded and ready to lay-on....

We passed out at Catterick, June, the same year...you could pour the sweat out of your boots

Hmm, Belize...lived and worked there for 3 years...inspiring, isn't it

A bit small but not by much. The main bangers on the majority of our fleet for a good few years was 'only' 4.5" (114mm) though the rapid fire jobbies on the newer ships do throw rather a lot of metal into the air in short order HMS Blake had 6" and 3" bangers and the ship used to fill with dust when the 6" fired

...that's fairly big

Nearly sank a trawler with one of these, but then the skipper must have been blind not to see the red flags on the cliff
