Re: Heathrow
could they just have run out of fuel, due to a miscalulation on the amount they would need to make the trip. that has happened before and if the computers are not set right the might not notice. ?

Couldn't agree more Garry.
All suppositions from the Ministry of Guesswork could easily turn into suppositories.

Re: Heathrow
point taken. I am just glad that it wasn't worse then it was. don't want to think what would happen if it came down short of the airport. :-(

Re: Heathrow
It really is annoying how the rags just come up with irrelevant trash. The thing is, the mentality is getting into all walks of life. While I accept that people do 'hypothesize' or express concern on incidents, a recent prang up here got me really, really annoyed....
A Lorry skids on ice and stops on a railway line. A locomotive comes along and runs into it.
Fortunately no-one was badly hurt.
TV, Radio and papers all carrying reports that a 'Disaster was moments away' bacause a couple of passenger trains were nearby. But were in fact STOPPED, and nearby meaning 10 miles.
Then, the Chief Constable comes on, 'It would have been a MAJOR DISASTER IF......' .- which, of course, is utterly stupid, and not something you would expect the Police to utter. He may as well have said 'If there was another train, another behind that, and a jumbo jet happened to get shot down overhead, and there was a flood and a ship floated over loaded with oil and Ronald mcDonald was the air traffic controller and directed...blaah blaah...'
It never really annoys me what the papers say, as I don't buy any, but to be honest, TV is getting as bad. As to how we got onto another of my rants, well, Dredging old photos up has about as much relevance as printing a map of the Heathrow area from 1910 and saying 'if it had happened then it would have been no escape'.....

Re: Heathrow
A few years ago a headline in a national rag screamed
ROYAL JET IN COLLISION RISK DRAMA
Reading it, the story said that a light aircraft had strayed into the purple corridor the day before the Queen was due to fly on that route.
Anyone can play the if game
The chances of you being involved in a serious road accident are very remote and will never happen to most
Yet every time, or nearly every time you drive you see something that if you were a few seconds earlier of if you had gone there instead of here........it goes on all the time
That's just life
