Building RAE Bedford for FSX

Re: Building Airfields FSX
it seems that it is some sort of anomaly with ISv2. I used MCX to export the objects as individual BGL files. I then added these BGL's to ADE's library objects and placed them. Loaded up FSX and Bobs your auntie.... The Hanger Works but the Tower doesn't!
Both models created in Sketchup, both exported as DAE files, both had textures converted to power of 2 and saved as DDS, both exported as scenery BGLs, both placed with ADE.
Ben.

Then there's the other anomaly where by you select the library you want.. you select the objects you want.. you place them and all looks hunky dory. You go back into the sim.. perhaps only minutes later and some of them are missing. Call up the bgl using IS and the missing objects appear.

Re: Building Airfields FSX
Ok, so I parked the towers for a bit and thought I'd try the ramp. After a bit of "fun" with Arcs and such like, I got something that was pretty representative. Into MCX and OUT again. It shows in the sim!!!!
However, its a bit steep!
oh... and its not solid, so you end up going through it
Anyone any ideas how to make a surface solid in Sketchup / MCX?

Re: Building Airfields FSX
Arc's for the ramp are giving me a few niggles, so I've been working on the Tower. I'm pretty happy with it. Its been modified over the years so I've built a bit of a hybrid....
Ben.

Looking good Ben
I know how to do solid surfaces in Max, but not with MCX.

Ben, I found this on Arno's page. The info right at the end of the video, about slopes, could be what you want.

Hi,
In SketchUp you can not make the hard surfaces (platforms). But in my ModelConverterX tool you can. So then you can make the roof of your SketchUp building landable for example.
This video tutorial shows how to add a platform:

Thanks chaps, and thanks for that link Mike. I'll look into it, although it might be a few days away as I'll need to do some family stuff today. Part of the trouble with Sketchup is that you have to get the Arc right at the start of the model as its horrible to edit it later. The funny thing is after looking at all of the photos i can find last night it may have been more of a ramp than a slope, thus less need for an arc. I'll probably redo the ramp from scratch as I'm not happy with it.
On a different point, Glass textures. The texture in sketchup for the tower glass has a blue tint, however, it was not a power of 2. When i resize it for FSX it goes solid rather than translucent, so I'll need a crash course in glass textures

Re: Building Airfields FSX
Back again chaps. I've done a very basic ramp to test the platform tool in MCX and I must say it will do very nicely. much easier than I had thought....
