They are gradually improving the resolution of the shots.

There are quite a few high res areas in the UK,

As Garry say there are different resolutions. If you zoom out on the UK it's possible to see the various mosaics which make up the whole view - some look fuzzier than others.

And I read that the Iraq views have been changed/blurred (?) to avoid it being used to target US forces - the pictures are too good!

Thanks chaps, that explains it but then again, some parts of Britain are not yet mapped, I suppose that will come in time.

This is quite good, it seems to combine most of the 'google earth' type systems... http://www.flashearth.com/

Search is a bit pants though

The other one is local.live.com Fors ome UK shots its better and for others google is better, just depends. :smile:

I always use a combination of the two

Local live covers most of the built up areas that Google still doesn't

It's also quite interesting to compare and see what's changed as they pics are from different times.
