RAF............PC again!!

Read on the new tonight that the RAF have been told to remove all nose art featuring scantily clad women in case it offends RAF women or Muslims in general.

TBH I would have thought the Government had better things to consider in regard to RAF operations :worried:

Perhaps if some of the equipment shortcomings were to seen as a risk of causing offence, then those issues would be addressed. :huf:

WHAT?? All this PC stuff really does my head in, even more so after reading this!! :brick:

My thoughts are, if it upsets them then tough!!

This is our country and I want it the way it is without having to bend over for others just in case they don't like it or it is not suitable because of their religion. Would they adjust to suit us if we lived in their countries??

I think NOT!

Sorry, but this PC lark is getting ridiculous.

Moderators, if you feel I have spouted off too much then please delete post and no need to justify the reason as I will not be offended.

Regards Nigel.

Was it the Americans who started us off with nose art during WW11?

Or did we export the idea to them?

I've no idea Nigel. No doubt some one will tell us.

I've always associated nose art of this type more with the US than RAF planes though.

On the original subject of this thread, I'd agree that there's much more important stuff to do than to try not to offend people who are often so bigoted that they'll take offence at almost anything.

There was a muslim imam here who used to throw crucifixes out of hotel and hospital rooms as he said they offended him. Crosses are fairly standard fixtures in those places in this catholic country. He got deported.

And rightly so! If he can't accept the culture and traditions of the country he's moved to, then he has no right to be there.

In that case, I assume you have no objection in the nose art being removed from RAF aircraft, as we should respect the culture and traditions of the Muslim country they are based in.

Here's political correctness.... a lot of them would like nothing better then to kill us all, but oh no we don't want to offend anybody.

Political correctness is just a way of telling you what you must think.
In other words - dictatorship.
The sooner we get rid of 'PC' the better.

In truth Jon, this is an Anglican, not a Catholic country. Catholics were persecuted here for centuaries.

I think you'll find Jon was refering to Italy - specficially Monza or close to it ;) - In answer to who was first - I think you may find it was the RAF -
One of the oddest "legends" I have ever heard was the sharksmouth used
by the Flying Tigers - Copied from a RAF Warhawk operating in North Africa
who pinched the idea from the sharksmouth painted on Me110s .
