FS2004 & Dual Core

I've read that, with some adjustments, FS2004 can be run on dual core machines in such a way that FS2004 will use 1 CPU exclusively for it's running, and the other for things like Activesky etc.
As part of my 'war on framerates', i'm planning the final upgrade of my PC - the dual core (there are other reasons for upgrading, but lets face it, FS9 is my main app!)
The main difference between the CPU I have now (amd 3700+) and the one i want to get (amd x2 4800+) is the clock speed (2.1ghz .v. 2.4ghz).
Right now, when i run FS9, CPU usage is 100% anyway, dipping now and then to let activesky etc have a go! If I bought a dual core and configured it to run with fs9 on one CPU and all the rest on the other, would i notice much of a difference?
