Although not by any mean a happy even.......nonetheless a picture of historic interest has appeared of BEA Trident 1C after being hit by BKS Ambassador G-AMAD..

Two Tridents were damaged....the other one being G-ARPI which was rebuilt only to crash later at Staines.

This one, was bought by Channel Airways and trucked to Southend for spares use.

Just how much use it was, damaged and with a different wing, interior and cockpit fit...... Channel had 1E-140's...... only Channel Airways knows.

Thanks for that Neil

I've seen a few pics over the years but not that one.

There was even a cine film of it happening but I've not seen that for years.

Has anyone ever seen the film?

You see the aircraft rear up and hear the two impacts with the Tridents but it is very grainy and lost in the shadow.

I well remember G-ARWE....just got it down in time.....couldn't even make a full circuit so brought it down on the crosswind runway.
