If you're sick of the fool's lantern and fancy something different, tune into BBC Radio 2 at 8 pm tonight ( Thursday 2nd August ) and listen to the Radcliffe and Maconie show. Its always good value, but tonight an American singer by the name of Laura Veirs is doing a live set in the studio. A qualified geologist from Colorado, fluent in Mandarin, who got bored with chipping rocks in China and decided she wanted to be a singer instead. She's been on before, and I have her Saltbreakers album, and I can assure you she is something altogether different.
