Saw this some time ago on TV.

The guy had just bought the helicopter and was waiting for the instructor but became impatient!! :shock:

In fact, if you study the AAIB monthly bulletins, you will find that this type of mishap is a fairly regular occurrence. Many Instructors in piston engined helicopters apparently tell their students to start and warm the engine while they finish their tea / lower the all up weight etc . A change in wind, particularly a freshening, can have unhappy results!

Since I've never been able to master the FS helicopters, let alone the real thing, I am not going to criticise the poor students!

That explains it!

I've seen this video a few times before but never with a description, always put it down to bad flying, but didn't know that the guy decided to skip lessons and have a go anyway.
